So I did some studies in England before I moved to the US. I got into every study I screened for there. I realize now that that was pretty good luck. I live in TX, near DFW, so the two clinics I use are Covance & PPD. I don't even remember how many studies I did at Covance, but it's about 6. There were two other times I screened there & didn't get in (1) false positive on TB blood test due to BCG vaccine, which is given to everyone in Hungary, where I'm from originally & (2) my heart rate was to high during vitals at screening.
On the other side, I screened with PPD for like 7 or 8 times now, and so far got into ONE study. I almost made another one (was checked-in) but right before dosing my BP was one point over the accepted range and for that particular study, even the study doctor was not allowed to override the disqualification (sponsor's rule for that study or so I was told). So instead of $6k I went home with $75 (they sent me the check 3 months later).
I'm going to screen again but I'm not overly hopeful. Maybe I get in, maybe I don't.
Does anyone have similar experiences? Is PPD harder to get into than other clinics?

A little about me: I am just getting started in clinical trials . Became unemployed and was doing small outpatient studies until someone told me about Covance and it has ed up a new world of making money.
So I am trying to do more inpatient studies and am hoping to do even more next year.

Hi I haven't been there but go to Covance in Floride and find them very picky/through more than some other clinics. Looking at some of the other PPD posts it looks like screening first thing most important whiLe Covance seems to go by best labs so I have screened late and still got in but they sometimes don't call until a week(or less) before check in to let u know you made it!! I have been looking at Icon, I have heard good things about it but have heard they sometimes are not reliable on screening appts and I will be flying so cant afford rescheduling at the last minute. Since YR in Texas have u been there? Wanted to add u if u went to the Covance in England? Have always thought would be nice to travel there and if I could do a study to pay for my trip would be great, thinking if not horrible could stay at a hostel or maybe try and find an ABNB. Welcome to the US and there is not a lot of activity on this site but once in a while u will get some good info.

Welcome to the US and there is not a lot of activity on this site but once in a while u will get some good info. So I was disqualified at screening, my BP was out of range. Came home, BP is within range on my BP monitor.... I think I have a bad case of white coat syndrome. When they use the old timey, manual BP cuffs at the doctors office that you pump up manually & listen with a stetoscope, ny BP is always around 120/80. At PPD 147/100 was my highest reading. At home, on an automatic machine, about 135/75. Anyway, I've never been to Icon. It's in San Antonio, further from me than PPD (PPD is a 3&half hour drive, one way). In England I did studies at Quintiles in London. I am an EU citizen so back then was able to work there legally. As a US citizen you need to find out if they'll let you do studies in England. Covance in Dallas never seemed overly picky to me.
