I've never done a study before. Will I have to submit documentation that I had my tubes tied?
I've moved around a lot in my life and my medical records are all over the place. Will I have to give them copies of all my med records from all the different states I've lived in?

Your only alternative is to have unprotected sex with all the staff members at the clinic and then have three negative pregnancy tests after a month, then they will certify you sterile.

People have sex at the clinic? Eew. I thought men and women were segregated.

In other words, feel free to lie your *** off. that's not quite what i said. i don't advocate directly lying, especially about things that could compromise your health. but i would say it's a bit like the army, "never volunteer." the more you tell them, beyond the direct questions they ask you, they can use that against you. i have experienced perfectly innocent statements being twisted around into soing that keeps you from doing studies somewhere. i found that in this business the amount of money you can make is inversely proportional to how honest you are, so everybody has to make their own decisions about where to draw that line. i have met people who claim to make 40 or 50K a year, and i doubt they are doing that honestly. i am ok making between 10 - 20K a year because that's all i need to live on. but i would someday like to get back into a field where there is more room for honesty, like being a car salesman or politican or ambulance chaser (all things i have done.)

This is true. I have missed out on two studies...both which paid a good amount...because I disclosed much more than was asked for. Neither issue would have directly compromised my health, but both led to too much thinking on the part of the RN interviewing me which lead to them calling a doctor and dismissing me. Both issues occured 20 years ago and have been long resolved.
I get it. They can't take chances if they think they know what they think they know. That would be irresponsible. It was totally my fault for being such an book.
Screwed myself twice...shame on me!!!
I do have one question since I have done that now: Do they keep a record of these screening interview responses? If so, I guess I have not only missed out on a couple of studies, I have banned myself from any future possibilities at two clinics!!! One was a phone interview but the other was face-to-face and I observed the person writing down things on a form. I am pretty sure I can kiss that clinic good-bye, right?
Thanks...
Gina

it really depends. some places will take note of what you say and use it against you in the future, others start fresh every screening. i called clinilabs once to ask about an insomnia study and now they have me pegged as an insomniac, even though i've done dozens of studies. another place, i thought i couldn't go back without a doctors note, but i called in and they said i could screen and i did my highest paid study yet. the main thing that keeps people from doing studies is self-selection. so don't assume you cant get in, keep calling unless you hear a firm "no".

Yeah...since my question, I have called the clinic with which I did the initial phone screening. They did refer to my previous screening this time around.
I guess I will just have to rely on the diversity of drugs they study and accept that I may get into some trials and not others.
No more book behavior for me!

That was funny that you actually believed him but I guess it depends on the clinic you visit and for the record you don't have to have sex with any of the staff at the clinics lol

No, Covance stuck a finger up your butt purely for their own enjoyment, they only told you it was for medical reasons.
