I am not a US citizen however I am on vacation in the US for six months. I am very interested in these studies. Does anyone know of any studies I can sign up for without having a SSN?

I know Celerion in Phoenix never asks for a social security card, but strangely they do want you to live locally. The studies I have done there usually have a good number of people who are pretty clearly illegal aliens. And I don't recall West Coast Clinical Trials ever asking for my SS Card either, but you do have to put an SS number on the forms at least for tax purposes; there is probably some other od a non-citizen could use to get by this.
It seems like all the places I went to in Texas required an SS card; PPD, Covance Dallas, Icon, and Worldwide Clinical Trials. Texas is less tolerant to possibly allowing illegals and perhaps non-citizens too to do studies, probably.
Only way to tell for sure if you can swing it is by calling or emailing an individual clinic.
Welcome to the board by the way and welcome to America, where do you hail from?

all the places require a photo ID of some type. so get one of those. i don't know of any place that would tell you its ok to be a noncitizen, but there might be some places that dont ask.
i have the reverse question; are there countries where us citizens can do studies?

when i was at celerion nj 3 years ago, an administration official who was visiting told me when i asked about doing studies at celerion in dublin (in ireland) that the main difficulty i would have doing any studies in europe would be obtaining a work permit. it is relatively easy to obtain if you are an american with a parent or grandparent who came over from a european common market country, but quite difficult if you are not in that position.
i did meet someone 2 years ago who had done many studies in thailand and one in singapore but lost contact with her. i do not think they had the work permit restrictions. it was also hard for me to understand why their studies would not fill up with their own citizens ... but she showed me her paperwork and she had done studies there. maybe the clinics in thailand needed more ethnic diversity for their studies...don't know!
