What to expect:
Facilities:
The company where you do the studies is located in old commercial building right on Main Street in Hackensack New Jersey.
Frontage operates on several floors within the building.
The beds are military style (think TV series Mash for you older lab rats) and are not that comfortable after a few days. This is because the mattresses are thin so you can feel the springs poking into your body.
Also, the beds are very close to each other and everyone sleeps in one big room. This can tend to be a bit noisy.
There are only 2 showers in the bathroom. Unfortunately, depending on how many people shower the water can run freezing cold probably because they have a small hot water tank. The bathroom can get messy after a few days if they have a large group.
There is wifi in the facility but it is best to bring your own because the network is so slow. There are 2 big televisions located at the opposite end of each other.
There are no scrubs so you are allowed to wear your own clothes.
Food:
Frontage does not have a kitchen so all of the meals for the participants are ed from the local restaurants in the area.
It is best to feed yourself really good on the day of check in (if there are no fasting requirements) because they only give you 2 or 3 small slices of pizza and a can of soda on the first day of check in for dinner.
For lunch they typically hero sandwiches or wraps which are not that bad.
For dinner they usually have Chinese food or Boston Market seemed ok.
Staff:
Most of the staff are very nice. The majority of them are from South American countries such as Colombia and Ecuador. Some of them do not speak English very well so it could be a good place to brush up on your Spanish if you are not fluent already.
Overall if you are looking to do a short term study and don't mind the bare bones environment then this is place for you.
