Most clinics don't specify against doing (or ask about) any dental work before or during screenings/check-ins but i wonder if it could skew soing or provide a positive on a drug test. I'm mostly concerned about cavity work since i have a few scheduled in between a multi stay check in. My dentist just uses a shot to numb...no gas or anything else.

yes.i had a tooth pulled after i got out of my last study, so then i waited a month to screen. it ended up being two months by the time i found one. your options include: get the work done with no shot. sounds painful. tell the clinic. don't tell the clinic.

My suggestion would be to ask the dentist how long the numbing substance will stay in your bloodstream ... my guess would be no more than a few hours. if you are given pain such as , which probably you would only be given if you had a root canal or dental surgery, you can ask the pharmacist.

Thanks for the replies, I talked to my dentist about it and she didn't know how it would affect drug tests and my appointment was a day before i check-in so i canceled it. And again today luck would have it that i'm in the same situations so i'll have to push the appointment back again! But based on some web searching it seems like i have a 80-90% chance of it NOT affecting test results. Most dentist use Lidocaine not Novacaine anymore but both had some risk of false positives for cocaine. Since my cavities aren't giving me any pain i'm not going to take any chance with it at this point...especially under 24 hours between dental work and a screening. I found a good table that talks about drugs, legal and not, that can skew results, scroll down more for second table that includes OTC drugs: doctorspiller.com/Local_Anesthetics/local__anesthesia_7.htm

BTW everyone. I know this topic is geared more towards Novocaine, but you should also consider amalgam, too. Did you know that in Scandinavia amalgam cavity fillings are banned? There is a huge controversy over it in the dental world. There are opposing views on it. I've come to the conclusion that all new cavities and old ones that need refilling should be composites and not amalgam. You definitely don't want amalgam removed if it's not time for it to come out to be refilled. Here is a good read: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dental_amalgam_controversy

Thanks for sharing this information about this dental work. Last month, took treatment from a reputed dentist Manhattan Beachlink for my gum problems. He treated me very patiently and gave good tips on how to keep oral hygiene.

Here is a good read: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dental_amalgam_controversy I'm grateful to the last poster, because I don't remember reading this. I actually plan to use the money from my next study to get the 1 small amalgam(mercury, one of the most toxic substances) out of my mouth. You can get them removed even it isn't time to yet, you just need to make sure the dentist advertises adhering to the standardized but strict protocol(dental dams, air suction, etc). I've got to get up early or I could add more details, but I felt compelled to reply being this is one goal I plan to have crossed off my list shortly after my next study. After that I plan an ayahuasca ceremony, and then back to my US tour of paid drug use. I feel kind of like a rock star, minus the groupies. Thanks to Big Pharma, I'll soon be able to have less toxins getting into my system. I plan to come back and add my own informational link. Thanks for bumping this, it's a great thread/question.

From what I have read the numbing agent could stay in your system for upwards of 4 days or so. You should try and schedule the dental work until after the study if you can put up with the pain in the *** of eating in a weird way with a bad tooth. Also some places won't let you do a study for up to three months after a root canal or dental implant or an extraction as they consider this the same as surgery on your body.

I don't thin many people actually know this but when they carry out a urine sample to test for any drugs such as cannabis or heroine or and other sort or drugs. When they test for cocaine they actual search for a substance in your body that is realised when you take cocaine...not actually cocaine.ethylbenzoylecgonine or Cocaethylene, these substances are caused when cocaine is mixed with alcohol, but can be cause be other legal pharmasuical drugs also...but they don't like to tell you that. (Research what they look for in a drug test for cocaine...it's not actually cocaine they look for.) They also look for traces of Benzocaine as this is the most common thing that drug dealers use to mix with cocaine to make more profit.... which is what the dentist inject you with to numb your gums so they might tell you it will show up negative for cocaine but it is one of the main things they look for to see if you have taken the substance. I have 3 friends that are either drug testers or are involved...I'm not going to name names or get anyone in a difficult situation but this is fact and truth research everything I have said and you will see. On a different not I also had a friend that tested positive for opium and when it was sent of for further testing it cam back it was the seeds on his burger bun so be careful people 😂
