I basically whipped this thread up as part of the VCT At-A-Glance thread, which can be found here...
jalr.proboards.com/thread/288/list-vct-clinics-any-talk
I'm not an old hand, but I've done about 15 studies, including drug, sleep, psych response and the likes.
I have yet to over lap. I know guys do it, I'm impressed their even able to find screenings and pull it off half the time. I also know that guys I see over lapping also often have LABS come back bad. Is it connected, maybe. However, like I saw mentioned in another thread, if you have clear labs when you leave a study, does it really matter? I mean, if the drug has a 2 hour half life, really 2 weeks later you should be more than clean for honest results in the next study. But RULES IS RULES, so be it.
I am bothered by VCT and if I have to choose between a VCT clinic and a NON VCT clinic, I'll choose the latter. The reason being is that it puts our personal info out there, and they can find all the loopholes they want, but it's still in violation of the SPIRIT of our HIPPA rights. I understand the washout period and the need for data integrity, but at what expense to privacy. VCT is a FOR PROFIT, plain and simple. We are coerced into signing because we need to make a living, and they don't provide a clear public list of enrolled clinics, so by the time we get said clinic, we've been off work for a month, it'll be another month before we get paid (*), so we have to act NOW and are some what roped in. I've signed (yep, FOR PROFIT LOL), but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
There is a potential for someone to hack VCT, whether for our personal data or in an attempt to get trial data to use for, say, insider trading info. It's not a good thing in my opinion. And if you think our info is safe, you're kidding yourself. Anytime you stock pile info in one place, the more info you have the bigger the target becomes and while we may not be able to say right off why someone would want our VCT info, don't be fooled into thinking no one will.
