Finally got into a study at Cliniabs after trying for well over a decade. Mostly I was told that there weren't healthy volunteer studies yet. I screened three times in the past 5 or so years and disqualified because of petty reasons. My heart rate was too healthy once: For the study it should have been slower since the study medication would have slowed the heart further. Another time my creatine was too high.
This time they allowed me to re - do a blood test because my WBC was low and I was lucky that the second blood test was substantially higher.
I finally got to do a study at Clinilabs.
I am in the facility as I type this post on my laptop.
The facility is smaller than a lot of other clinics. It actually is a sleep-diss clinic and my understanding is that there are some people who pay money to have their sleep diss treated here. Other studies are patient studies.
There are some small two-bedroom rooms. There is one large room with 10 beds to put a group of volunteers into.
Some of the staff are nice. Some seem to ignore the volunteers. It is not too pleasant here but not just because the staff is disorganized.
As usual the volunteers consist of lower class, undesirable types. I came in with a group Sunday night and one guy was disqualified after he was given a urine test. I guess it was because some kind of un-allowed substance was detected. I am glad that the guy did not get to stay. He looked and acted angry . He called someone on his cell phone and started cursing about how he spent a lot of money coming to Clinilabs only to be rejected. Well, it seemed he should have known better than to use drugs.
Anyway there are still a lot of creeps in the group I am with. Lots of lazy, crazy types who were not brought up right.
I overheard two of these guys talking about how the staff have nerve telling them what to do. One white guy talks a lot on his cell phone but does not curse and does not get too loud. He got into an argument with one of the black guys whom made fun of him because he tended to ask the staff for a lot of things. He said that if he is going to stay at the place he wants to be comfortable. One black guy mimicked and mocked him about how he asked for a certain size of scrubs. I thought I was going to see a fist fight.
Later on two of the black guys were saying that the white guy has nerve arguing with black guys and one of the black guys said that he needs to get a licence for a gun for such situations.
Also there is one guy who has a very bad cough here. I don't know how he got to stay in the study. He could spread soing to everybody.
I need to earn the money and will stick with the study but I think I have to write a letter to the management.
