I moved your post to this thread, look back at previous posts and you might find some helpful tips.
As you sound healthy it is a little surprising that you are having high BP, my guess would be that you may have the white coat syndrome, in which case relaxation techniques could be helpful.

hey guys I have recently been running into a problem during screening about my blood pressure being too high a problem I haven't had in the past but recently it has been the only thing stopping me. I cut out salt run 5miles a day and I am very active, what would you guys suggest I do? Or try to keep this problem from occurring any feedback would be most helpful thanks I tried all the relaxation techniques and they don't work. Even if you were to pass the screening, it could happen during check-in or the following day. That's what has happnened to me twice. I'm currently going through hypnotherapy. We'll see if it works. Meditation did not. Cutting out added sugar and diet soda entirely didn't help either. They helped with weight loss, but not high pulse problems. It's the high pulse that makes it go up. Get it 96 or under and you can pass. Mine was 96 in screening which is quite high for me but it didn't shoot BP up to where I'd fail. But once in study it goes up to 106 and that gives me a fail. High pulse fails, too. Has to be 99 or below.

how about tips for bringing down the qtc or qtcB on the EKG? I have been sent home from the last two studies I checked into, hope not to make it 3 next week. The only thing I've figured out so far is get enough sleep the night before. I've been told that holding your breath helps, but for that i'd have to get the tech to tell me when they are going to hit the button. This is exactly how threads become derailed. Your post may be interesting, but it is not relevant to the OP's question. You might consider starting a new thread after using the search function to ensure you aren't creating a duplicate post. If you want to lower bp you probably need to get fitter and drop weight or at least drop your body fat. Do jumping jacks and other warm up exercises or start jogging or shadow boxing.

Soak in an Epsom Salt Bath the evening before and the morning of screening while sipping on bitter melon tea!

I have the same problem. My normal bp is 100/60 but it always shoots up to 120/74 or 120/80. Luckily it is still in range but the anxiety of maybe getting cut is hard to control. I try and breath and relax and it doesnt work. The anxiety can also effect the ECG. I just got in a study where out of 21 people only 14 were needed so it is hard to not be stressed. I too wish I could just zen out and be totally calm.

what works for one person may not work for another.....but for me, i try to take long, deep breaths ...not abnormally so, but i focus on them. if you're sitting in a chair, be sure your feet are flat on the floor. and never sit with your legs crossed.
for me, i have to be careful not to drink icy cold water from a clinic cooler before BP or it raises it. i think this is a weird personal idiosyncrasy as i have never heard anyone else say that.
can you think of anything you did differently at the screenings where your BP was good?
i have to really focus in not to get too nervous at screenings and had a problem a few times. i used to be able to distract myself with random pleasant thoughts but now i take a crossword book. maybe that might help, or sudoku, or anything like that that is distracting but not too intense.
oh, and i usually try to walk around outside for 5 minutes or so first.
as far as diet and stuff, it sounds as if you are very fit. i hope others may have some really good suggestions for you.
best wishes

Some studies require the techs to count respirations during vitals. If you don't breath enough times you could fail.

I've had this problem for the last two studies I've screened for, which is weird, because when I was on studies at Jasper my blood pressure had typically been on the low side. I screened at Medpace in April and they disqualified me because my BP was too high and last week I screened at Evansville Covance and it was 141/80, so they disqualified me and put me on the suspended list until my doctor sends them a letter saying that I don't have hypertension. I just saw my doctor May 1 and my BP was 122/74, so I don't get it. I don't smoke or drink caffeinated beverages, I've taken meditation classes, my BMI is 21% and I exercise every day and I've started taking organic apple cider vinegar. I don't understand what's suddenly causing this increase in my pressure, but I would appreciate any suggestions to lower it. I screen at (I know, but I'm desperate) on June 1, so we'll see if I make it.

I've noticed that I'm susceptible to a mild case of 'white coat syndrome'. My blood pressure is fine normally, but during screenings it tends to shoot up to 139/85 or so. I was thinking of popping, say, a tablet of Lasix to bring down my blood pressure for the medical. Anyone else out there ever done that? What were the results? Many thanks.

I just had my first episode of white coat syndrome( I have been doing studies for 5 yrs) my usual bp is 100/60 . Usually it goes to 120/80 at screening. I just got sent home before dosing my bp went up to 150/90 It's never happened and I have been going there for years. They let me return as an alternate and it happen again but worse 159/103. I guess because I was already worried about it happening again. In-between recheck in i practiced breathing techniques, listened to calming music and monitored my bp during these events and it was fine. I seem to get nervous while I am lying there for the 5 minutes waiting to get my bp done. They would not let me have ear buds in. Prior in the waiting room I was listening to calming music. I dont know what to do . At this point wondering if and how hypnosis might work. I guess its about controlling yr thoughts which I'm finding difficult. I really never ever thought about white coat syndrome until I experienced, it's horrible!! ***they were nice about it I am not banned though they recommend I see a dr for high blood pressure but now I am afraid to go back until I can find a way to outsmart my thoughts. Has anyone tried hypnosis ? Or thinking if I went in very sleep deprived I might fall asleep during the bp/ecg

I checked into a study this morning and my blood pressure was out of range. They'll check it again in the morning and I'll either dose or not dose.
They say it's likely because I didn't get enough sleep.
edit: i did the study but will need a doctor's note to come back because my blood pressure remained high.

Well I have talked to someone who takes CBD Isolate 100 ent THC free for anxiety.
Has anyone heard of it. I am trying to think of soing for my white coat problem. It seems to only happen at 1 clinic which is very strict and the employees are all business. They are just stressed but it stresses me. I dont want to say name in case they are monitoring this site which i have heard that clinics ARE monitoring this site. So I will nix the sleep deprivation and the meditation didn't work. I like this clinic because it pays well and it is a 2 hr drive. So now thinking about the non THC CBD .

Assume that to be true. I think it's one of the reasons traffic on this site has fallen over the years.
It wouldn't occur to me to take cbd because i never take anything, but i guess thc is all they test for so cbd wouldn't show up? maybe i'll experiment with the epsom salts approach.
