my friend took a cab a year ago and said it was $6 or maybe $7. you can always ask the driver to tell you an "appmate" fare to get some idea before you get in.
i almost always just walk there from the asbury park station, even if it is raining. (of course if you are going to be checking in for a long study, you probably would not want to drag a suitcase that far.)
it is about a mile, easy walk. i know some persons call the area around celerion a risky-looking area, but you are mostly walking by single-family homes and small apartment buildings and a daycare center, a few small businesses. there are usually people in some of the yards doing gardening or whatever. i said to "good morning" to everyone and they all said "good morning, how are you" back so i am not sure where the impression comes from that this is a risky area although it is obviously low-income. one woman said "Bless you" to me which i always appreciate even though i am not particularly religious.
random thought, not very relevant (many of my thoughts are not): i have been in florida for about 6 months where there seem to be weird random shootings at malls and movie theaters every few months or so and i feel more uneasy here than in NJ. fortunately i am always out of money so i don't have to venture into malls much.
