How's it going labrats. I've got another question for all of ya'll that someone might be able to help out with, or if it pans out well I'll report back and possibly inspire more lab rats to do the same.
When screening for studies I've never been asked if I receive SSI benefits or any of the sort like that. I think the extra assistance would help out tremendously when covering the cost of hotels and travel when searching for a study. However by qualifying for ssi you have a disability and I'd assume it's a disqualifier. My question to all of you lab rats is if anyone here or know of anyone who is on SSI and successfully partakes in healthy volunteer studies? If they ask for your social security number, they should be able to quickly discover you're on SSI, but do they actually check for this?

Many privacy protections have been eroded in recent years but I seriously doubt that a clinic is reasonably able to find out if you are receiving SSI benefits even if they decided to check for this. This is a confidential matter between you and the Federal government.

Clinics don't give a damn about confidentiality; we sign a lot of release forms, I hope your right about the government protecting our privacy. I'm gonna give it a shot, because if it's tough enough with them imposing VCT on us.

No what I'm saying is that clinics shouldn't be able to legally find out about someone's SSI status, but of course these days who knows.

Hi,my friend has monthly SSI income and he's trying to get a study. Would the earnings from the study Make his ssi income go down Or go away? I know people who collect ssi have the limitations for incomes, if you earn too much, they will take away your ssi for that month. Anybody has this experience? Thank you!
