Covance was recently bought by LabCorp (large blood work and medical testing company) from the wsj: "LabCorp maintains a database containing health information on 75 million patients. The combined company intends to allow drug researchers to use the database to help recruit patients for clinical trials,: "the company is permitted to “interrogate the database” to advise physicians on patient recruitment and to send clinical trial information directly to patients. The company would comply with all privacy regulations, Mr. King said." “We have an enormous database of patients which includes their demographic information, their diagnosis information,” Mr. King said. “It gives us a tremendous tool to recruit and enroll clinical trials more quickly.” So how is this going to be implemented? Maybe labcorp will give trial "sales pitches" to its customers with labwork that falls in range for covance's trials? This should be a boost for their recruitment for sure. Not so good for covance regulars with questionable labs. Oh and covance i see you made 66 million in profits this year! (up from 44 mil last year) So how about trickling that profit down to us participants? $300 a day...275? or how about just settling on a hot tub for the Madison patio...but i appreciate the new (real!) blankets so i won't get too greedy! I was just there yesterday and I noticed this news made front page of the local paper. One staffer said they will keep the Covance name, but that they are concerned about their pay/benefits changing against their favor. My hope is that they don't start using VCT or start enforcing a 'must eat everything rule.' Covance Madison has always been my favorite clinic. I hope they stay just the same.
Do you know anything about WHEN this change of ownership will take place?

Do you know anything about WHEN this change of ownership will take place? It's expected to close in the first quarter of 2015. Here's an article about it: www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2014/11/03/labcorp-covance/18401139/Covance is my first choice clinic. If they go to a 'must eat everything rule' they would be far less desirable to me. Even adding VCT or slightly reduced pay would be better than the food rule for me.
