Does anybody have any idea if another phase 1 clinic might be ing on the old Celerion/Neptune NJ site in 2015 after Celerion closes? This rumor of them closing has been floating around for a couple of months, now it was finally confirmed this week. I've done more studies there than anywhere else and I was hoping soing else may up in its place at least comparable?

They are closing / moving Jan 2015? I guess that's why they've offered me zero for the last 2 weeks I've been calling. Hopefully another CRO s shop. Maybe Clinilabs / Frontage will have more studies?

This rumor of them closing has been floating around for a couple of months, now it was finally confirmed this week. I've done more studies there than anywhere else and I was hoping soing else may up in its place at least comparable? As a subjects, we are used to things happening to us. We get poked, scheduled and for the unfortunate few abused. There is a favorite song of mine. Its called welcome to the 21 century. Wait we are the 21 century. Did you know you can call pharmaceutical companies and ask them what studies they have available and where possibly they might conduct studies. You might be surprised they will actually tell you and send you a thank you note for inquiring. This brings me to my next point. If you get with your friends and call the companies will get and idea where there are potential pool of subjects are to quickly execute their studies and may take the information into consideration in placement of study in a CRU in pmity to you. Take it a step further suggest clinics close to you that the study could be done. Have written down 5 reasons why the study should be done at the clinic close to your home. For example x clinic gets studies recruited and completed in short space of time. The goal is not to complain about other clinics but to emphasis what you like about the clinic you are suggesting. If pharma discovers where their subjects are coming from they can place studies and get them completed faster saving money. Some of those extra savings can be passed on to you in payment. Clinics use recruiting cost as an argument to pay subjects less. In the case of out patients and less say bad weather a clinic close to the subjects are less likely to have miss or have late time points which is good for the data and save pharma having to repeat cohorts. There are many small clinics in your area that have the bed capacity to do studies yesterday and their staff are competent and professional. How do you find these clinics? Next time you are given a consent form type in the the pharma name in clinicaltrials.gov and get the contact info in the link. The key is to do callings as a group to get the attention of the right persons. Celerion is gone but you are not forgotten. Make it happen!

Have you ever actually called a sponsor to give them feedback after doing a study for one of their drugs at a contract CRU? Like, say, the staff was courteous and professional, the food was decent, the beds were comfortable, but it took ____F O R____F U C K I N G____E V E R____to get paid?

I guess you could. Being about the big picture and expanding opportunities around you is a much better use of your time. Showing a sponsor an opportunity to much more quickly complete a study with increase attendance at follow ups because there is pool of local subjects is a win for them and certainly a win for you. Simple recommending a clinic that meets your criteria is an indirect penalty to the less desireable clinics. If the recommendations are coming in for one clinic as oppose to next, the sponsors will start asking the right questions. For instance if you sell the sponsor on professionalism and timely payment of clinic X then where does it leave clinic Y. When clinic Y tries to sell the sponsor on the same point it will not be supported by references from individuals like you. P.S. note I'm suggesting that you be an advocate for bringing future studies to a clinics near you and in no way suggesting that a sponsor pull a study that has already been placed.

Latest rumor: They're moving to Richmond Virginia. I dont believe they moved anywhere. Celerion still has the lease to the building for a couple of years, so not sure any new Company moving in. Clinilabs, Frontage and TKL all somewhat local but studies are scant.

As far as anybody knows, they do have a unit in Richmond but they don't do Phase 1 studies. Or it they do, they're being super selective and secretive about it. Richmond is located on I-95 with connections to Greyhound, Megabus, Chinatown bus and Amtrak. There is also a hostel ing up there soon. It would be an all right location for studies, geographically.
