Please forward to Dr. Carter. I don't have an email for him.
Dr. David Carter,
Medical Director
Waukegan Il.
Dear Dr. Carter,
A year ago December I took part in a clinical trial at , soing I've been doing for many years. I rely on clinical trials for my income, and was my best clinic, in the year before this happened I made about $10,000 at and $10,000 from all other clinics.
It was a trial that involved putting a tube down my nose into my intestines.
The 75 minutes it took to get the tube in place for the first of two times was the most physically painful thing I've experienced in my adult life. The consent had warned of "discomfort", but not of severe and extreme pain. The doctor and lead study nurse, Annette, did not seem to be understand my remarks when I told them about this, so I discussed it some detail on the written study evaluation when I left.
As a result of providing this feedback, in May or April I was told that I have been banned from doing further studies at . I am writing to ask that this decision be reviewed and reversed. I regard it as highly unethical to ban a research subject for providing true and accurate written feedback about study conditions.
While it may not have been meant that way, it could look like a coverup of torture of human subjects.
I hope to be able to resolve this internally within the company, instead of having to turn to the media, regulatory agencies, or the courts. I have twice left messages asking the study doctor to contact me. He hasn't.
I am asking to be fully reinstated. I am currently 55 and would age out of most of your studies this year anyway. I am not trying to rock the boat. I just want to be able to ue to make my living.
However if it is necessary to go public, because I was not promptly reinstated, I will do so, and I believe that could put in a bad light. Feel free to contact me, [vark stuff], to discuss this further if needed.
Cordially, [vark]
