I have a screening at 12:45 on Monday Been texting a few people, trying to get a ride Of course,a much cheaper option is taking the bus,but only if I have to By the way,I am in Independence MO.Independence buses obviously don't go all the way in to KS I looked at the KCTA website and the Joco website for bus routes/schedules Looks like I can either be stuck on a Kansas City bus for 2 hours ,or transfer from downtown KC on to one of the JoCo buses Problem is,I dont think the Johnson County buses run every hour..might even a period of at least 3 hours where they are not running Any one have any experience taking the bus to V and A? Which route? What stop would I exit to walk rest of way to V and A?

I screen next week for a study at Quintiles. I have never done a study there. Do they pay the entire amount once you have completed your final follow up,or do they pay in increments? The woman I talked with on the phone today did not explain this. She only mentioned how much i would be paid. V and A told me that we would be paid a little when we come in to screen and I think she said than paid a certain amount later(cant remember when)and than finally,we are paid the remaining amount once the study is over(this particular V and A study had 0 follow ups).

Yeah, that makes sense. At first I just thought,WTF?Some one that smokes, snorts or shoots up gets paid a lot more than those that don't?! Than I clicked on the link and it shows that for that particular study,it does require a lot of in house stays.

Thanks for your answer. Are you saying that if I screen for one study,I can not screen for another until it's known whether or not I make it in to the study I already screened for? So,if i screen for soing called healthy volunteers 1,I can't screen for healthy volunteers 2 until they let me know if I will be in the healthy volunteers study 1?

I realize this thread is 2 years old,but I hope you don't mind me asking.. How much were you compensated for a screening?
$100 at vince. $25 or $50 anywhere else that pays.

Healthy volunteer studies at V and A,pay 1 and 3 thousand, sometimes a bit more. So why is it that "recreational drug users" studies, pay $6,000? Is it simply because there are more in house stays?

The 2 nearest clinics for me,are Quintiles and Vince... If one screens, say at Quintiles on a Tuesday, can you than go and screen at Vince..a few days later? If I screen for one study at either of the above clinincs, how soon can i go back to that same clinic to screen for another? I am aware that you do have to wait 30 days after you check out of 1 study before you can participate in another.

Went back to CSL Plasma today Went through hoops and circles for over an hour. Finally, one of the employees took me right to a bed,so they could begin the procedure(I think she felt bad because i had been waiting going back and forth. Anyhoo, one gal "found" a vein in my right(one of the doctors their took a look and said that I do indeed have small veins),stuck the needle in,waited a while, and I guess things did not go the way they were supposed to since she removed the needle, applied ice, gauze and a bandage. So than someone else tried my left arm and that did not work either. I did not end up giving any plasma, but, since they did stick me,I walked out with an extra 50 bucks. I will wait a few days and see if theres any severe bruising. I will probably try it at least once more, just to see if I can get any more money out of them.I think there could be the possibility of being deferred. If I am deferred,I at least hope I can get paid again. Not sure how much it is for second donation(even though, technically,I never have donated). I plan on trying either Quintiles or V and A..maybe both, with in the next couple of weeks.

Called the today.I was told that many have donated plasma and participated in a study.Just depends on the study(Vince And...said the same thing). Also,if you tell them you have donated, you might have to do a "wash out",which i guess means having to wait a certain length of time. So im not sure what will happen. I tried to donate plasma a couple of days a go,and the woman could not find a vein..in either arm!Dumb @ss. So I only made 10 bucks.I will try again tomorrow, and if the same thing happens, the Hell with it.I have been avoiding caffeine, fatty foods and have been drinking a lot of water.

OK I wonder what the amount of time is that you have to wait....

Seems pretty harsh. I was expecting 30 days but when she said 90...i thought F*CK!! Mad at them and mad at myself, for forgetting that I had taken a sleeping pill the night before. Well, live and learn. I'll give Vince....a try.I think they are not that far from Quintiles. They don't seem to have studies that pay as much as Quintiles, but the facilities look like one of the best.
