Got a question.... I noticed that there's a few clinics around the U.S conducting a menthol smokers studies sponsored by the same sponsor. If I complete one at one clinic, is it possible for me to do the same study at another clinic? Will another clinic know I participated in the same study but elsewhere? Thanks.

I heard that Covance is going to using VCT soon. A friend of a friend said the asked him to sign a VCT form while screening at Dallas Covance. I know why they immediately made this decision. I know the person who prompted this. This person that I recently met at a screening at Spaulding claims that she's being doing the labrat game for a few years. She checked into a study with Pharma Medica Research. She had also done a study previously with Covance Madison. Her last opvher with Covance had overlapped her in stay period with PMR... she didn't know how to get out of one to fulfil the other. She ended up telling Covance that she was in another study (at PMR). The study coordinator at Covance decided that she will be barred and PMR withdrew her from the current study. This all happened last week. So I think her incident prompted Covance to implement vct. I asked her why she did that because it not only messes it up for her, she messes it up for others too. I was so irritated by her actions and told her how I felt. She hasn't contacted me for a couple days but she knew she f*cked up. If you've been in the game long enough, you know perfectly well you don't volunteer such information. That was so dumb on her part!!!

Who has VCT: Just Another Lab Rat does. This website is sponsored by VCT/Study Scavenger, which are the same company, except in name. They are probably its greatest source of revenue, and this thread is the best advertising they could ever have. VCT and Study Scavenger are NOT the same company. Study Scavenger is a recruitment company that helps us find studies. That company works with JALR. VCT is the opposite. VCT stops double enrollment. VCT has nothing to do with JALR. Get your facts straight !! Icon uses VCT too. WWCT used to do it but I think they crapped it!

I have a question I'm hoping somebody can answer for me. I've done studies through celerion in Phoenix az, the problem with them is, even if you qualify to get in the study, there is a competition call, where everyone calls in At the same time. Are the other studies in Austin tx, etc the same? Or do they not so the whole competition call crap? Bio Kinetics does the ed competitive call too!!

I keep my expenses low. All I have to do is make $20K a year from studies. That's maybe 5 or 6 studies. I "work" less than 100 days per year. If you're not happy with $20K/yr then it'll be much more difficult. If you live in an area where there are at least 2-3 clinics within a couple hundred miles of you then you shouldn't need to travel to the further away clinics thereby saving you money on travel. Somewhere near Austin, TX is probably the best place for a full time lab rat. Kansas City is good as well as anywhere in southern Wisconsin or northern Illinois. Just keep yourself healthy and don't spend too much money and you should have no problem living solely off of money from studies. I'm new to the professional lab rat thing but do know how the process works. I made a decision to do this full time after experiencing so much politics working for companies that don't appreciate you or pay you your worth. The key to being in this field, is a return on investment. All the money earned, after deducting travel expenses. I have come to my own conclusion and that you need to save up as much as you can, when you're away from home. Either make friends along the way and network, so if you do decide to do studies together, you can split expenses. If you're doing straight stay studies and there's a week or more days in between for OPVs.....Stay in a shelter! The way I see it, if you can room/bunk with total strangers, share commune living space in facilities where you don't exercise choice or privacy, it's no different than staying in a shelter, where you're housed and you don't pay a thing, other than maybe volunteering to help do chores, which is nothing in comparison to shelling out $$$ on hotels. I would rather put that money towards paying my own rent at home, than shelling out on extra money for a place to stay out of town. That's my analogy. Keep receipts of everything and budget your trips.

I'd like to know if PPD's alleged slowdown is real (I've never been there)... or is this wishful thinking on the part of people with a grudge? A major clinic going out of business doesn't strike me as soing to ever be celebrated--not by people who can actually go there, that is. There's no sustainable facts about what's going on at PPD but fellow lab rats have noticed that the studies there have dwindled down and that the big paying ones are scarce and this may have soing to do with them not getting sponsors....right now it's speculation but I can say that PPD does have a bad rap in the lab rat industry among subjects in how staff treats them appallingly. I'm here in Springfield, MO and I'm hearing endless complaints about their bad attitudes and snooty ways and how they don't give a rat's a$$ (no pun intended) about subjects. They cancel at a dime and don't apologize. If they act like this, I'm sure sponsors are picking up on that and are gaining a bad reputation.... who wants to deal with difficult prima Donna's??

What happened to PPD? They use to drop a decent amount of straight threw studies with top dollar pay. Now it seems like they have lost sponsers or soing cause now its like they going out of business......... Does anybody have any ideah to what's going on? I guess karma is a b*tch!!! The way they treat subjects like they're second class citizens and don't give a damn, now sponsors don't want to deal with them.....let this be an eye er for them to change their attitude.
