too bad, i enjoyed your posts overall.
i would be very curious what jobs you will get that will be better.... unless you are well-educated and sought-after. for me, i am a bottom-feeder in the jobs market and i am grateful for the scraps (pills lol) thrown to me by Big Pharma.
my only wish is that the government would stop being hypocritical and let studies be counted as real employment so that i could earn benefits as well. it seems crazy to me to tax us and then pretend it is all just noble volunteering.
and btw: many phone screeners have nothing to do with the clinics or the sponsors. they are wage slaves just like telemarketers. how do i know? i have a friend who was one. so you are cursing your wage slave comrades ....not cool.

This is "real employment". You are a self employed contract worker. Contract workers almost never get benefits. An example would be a software engineer who does a project. They sign a contract to do a job for a certain amount of money. It's real employment just like what we do. You do a job, make money, pay taxes, repeat. No reason to expect benefits. However, I do think that if you do a job for the same company several times and do it well then you should get more money than someone who is new or doesn't do the job well.

Please believe in yourself, You have to have the willingness to change, just a little willingness. Start small. U can choose to loose weight or not. U can choose to drink alcohol or not. I have had a very slow year while others around me go from study to study. I am on my 2nd study this yr and was released from the other one early with only partial payment but I am not giving up or giving in. And I know the thought of a menial dead in job scares me too. Wishing the best for you. Sometimes I do not know if you are talking for real or joking but joke about dying or suicide, it saddens me.

. All i know is that with him in office we will have less studies to chose from as a result of his deep cuts to medical research funding. Its gonna be a long three years. Come on, man. We get paid by corporations not governments.

Maybe when the orange beach-ball in the Oval Office finishes deflating and we get a president who knows how to even spell it we might have more studies to chose from. Hey...i like wasteful government spending if it benefits me! I am a thoroughly melinanated racial supremacist and I love making study nights loud for polar bears.

Well as far as clinical trials trumps just wants to make it easier for his pharmacutical buddies to get drugs passed thru with less testing to save them billions on clinical trials so when they put them on the market the general public consumer will have a better chance of having an adverse reaction even death due to less strigent testing. All trump cares about is making money for his rich buddies. Not good for us $ wise.

Stay positive. The only good thing for us Floridians is that with Covance Evansville closing Daytona Beach is very busy so hoping I will have some steady income. I have noticed a lot of Texans in Daytona i guess because PPD slow, they said it is a great facility. Also heard Celerion good except if they have competitive calling would be a pain in the ***. Have a great weekend

Well Covance goes strictly by labs. So u can take any screening date as long as u feel u will screen well. Otherwise i really dont have a lot of screening info. My girlfriend is doing the 28,000 4 month Celrion study but she got 1st day screening appt but even with that they are checking in 110 keeping 86 so always a stressful wait I try and do what i can to help people by offering free rides to clinic or bus station or airport( with in reason)hoping that someone will return favor in the future if i need it. Wishing u good fortune. This is a crap shoot of a job but I luckily live with my mom so very cheap rent. Widhing u all of the best

I've not done a lot of studies, but I hope to do more because I have dreams this money will help me create.
This is an odd demographic...a lot like being in the filming industry: Everyone is "expendable freelance." You audition (screen) and hope for the best, but there's also politics and sponsors (producers/directors) that keep changing their minds, and someone willing to give a BJ to whoever is calling the shots. You can do everything "right" screen well, and still not get in, or get in and then have soing go south that has nothing to do with you or your qualifications.
I have my vitals and basic blood work done before each screen to be sure I'm not wasting money on travel. Everything can come up perfect for both sets, then you get a call that the study doc found some detail that inspired them not to choose you, you know it's not substantive, but it's their call.
When you put all of your hope into one thing and it doesn't work out, it's easy to become discouraged.
This is a very part-time way to make money with at least a 30-day hiatus on between. It is not "easy" and is physically and emotionally unsafe to make this your only source of income, because of the objectification, and there are biochemical side effects of the drugs and being confined inside that effect emotions as well.
They are paying us to use our bodies...to generate profits way beyond what we will ever see, but still more per day than most "regular jobs" and like a lot of other "jobs" it can be pretty Dickensian in many ways, especially in terms of human "community" and feeling appreciated (with the exception of this forum), and some friendships we cultivate along the way.
Any "job" can feel soul-less unless we find larger meaning/connection. "Contributing to humanity" is a marketing concept this work, but it's really about profit (for them and for us), so if this is your only focus, it wears thin pretty quickly, especially after the 25th straight stick in a day by someone who can barely tie their shoes, much less find a vein.
A job is not a summation of who we are as a human being. We are much much more than "just another lab rat." We are real people of many facets, talents, hopes, and dreams, and like other real people, we have our ups and downs, which can lead to growth as we explore the deeper roots of our dissatisfaction/ depression (for which there are studies as well, but the meds are crap with awful side effects, and "mental illness" will disqualify you from many "healthy" studies), so tread carefully.
Feeling depressed/dissatisfied is a temporary attention-getter to motivate us to explore perspectives and change things up. Depression is defined literally as an area of ground that is lower then the rest around it (a "rut"), created by walking the same ground repeatedly (like a habit), which can be comforting till it becomes restrictive. Like any path or rut, you can (literally and metaphorically) step over, climb out, walk around it, fill it in/fix it, or create/find a new path, depending on who we look at it.
We need income, and we need meaning and connection. If we could do anything and be paid for it, what might that be? Try to consider 3 ideas and notice how they feel to you. Is there soing you've always been interested in? Soing you feel great about?
Find a profession, need, or cause you can believe in and find a "job" within it, create a service, or volunteer to get to know it. Is there soing you could help with and charge by the hour? If others are doing soing that appeals to you, learn HOW they're making it work, and see how you could make it work for you. Do you love kids, pets, care about the homeless, hungry, the oppressed? Do you love art, music, build things, garden, hike, or help people in general? Can you blog or stream about soing you love? Is there soing you've always wanted to try or learn about?
There are so many ways to "survive," and we cannot do this full time forever. We need to balance this with other ways to earn, stay healthy physically and emotionally, and cultivate soing to lift our Spirits, even if it's taking a walk to breathe the fresh air, feel the sunshine on our skin, and observe and connect with the world around us.
Nature is a huge uplift for me, because no matter what humans do, nature keeps showing us how to be resilient, stay grounded, and keep growing...and that we are a part of nature and connected to each other. Nature literally provides what's needed for everything on the planet, like an artist, constantly creating recycling and adapting a work in progress. Being outdoors effects us biochemically, supporting our mental and physical health, and I simply can't walk without seeing soing beautiful and feeling a sens of awe, even in urban settings, and hiking with a friend or meetup group is another great way to connect. : )

Like I said a crapshoot. I have low to no expenses otherwise could not do it. For those who make good money it is going from study to study and I assume they try and cherry pick their studies for time in to stipend amount. It isn't easy but a 9 to 5 job would kill my spirit. So we all make choices as to what we feel is best for us. There is no right or wrong answer here but there will be a day where I age out of most studies but I have already worked 25 years in the crazy job world so will at least get social security benefits But u are right about nature and just being outdoors. If I am feeling sad I go for a walk and just immerse myself in nature. Yesterday I saw a beautiful male bright red Cardinal and a woodpecker and I was amazed by their beauty.
