I guess she decided that we were not that interesting after all Hey mike. Actually, I just reread what she wrote. At the very bottom she does write: "I'll be checking here, but if you'd like to talk, please do email me. You can reach me at maggie.koerth@gmail.com." So I kinda take back what I said. I say "kinda" because I still think she should've done a follow-up "thank you" post. But she did make it clear that she'd prefer everyone to email her. I'm sure a lot of the unregistered lurkers did so.

Yeah regardless it is irritating when people take time and effort to respond and try to be helpful, and they are met with the sound of wind whistling through the willows.

yes! i always enjoy mike's comments too.
re maggie: i emailed her and one of my labrat friends emailed her and she sent several emails back. she is very interested in many aspects of the labrat experience. she works on several stories at a time. she is trying to interest her editor in some angle of a labrat story ... that must happen before she moves forward.
one of my goals, especially the last few months, is to try to make changes to the consent process and also to the treatment of volunteers who suffer side effects and have concerns.... so i welcome any exposure of waht i consider to be serious flaws in the current system (at least at the huge clinics).
i think it is to our benefit to tell her any concerns we may have in any aspects of the lab rat experience as this may be a very good chance to get our grievances known, even if nothing ever changes ... some small changes might happen. and the more info she has on interesting aspects of the labrat experience, the more likely her editor will tell her to move forward with a good article, i would think.

I, and my friend, had communicated with the journalist in a quick-short way. Nothing extensive discussed , but I did inform her that there is a very good story here and she should pursue it and I and my friend are willing to elaborate to her more.
That was a while back. Have not heard from Maggie in many weeks. The journalist may be very busy with other stories to write and present. That is what my friend suggested. But maybe it is only a matter of time until she gets back to me.

Maggie recently got back to me, appmately within some three weeks ago, ( as I type this it is August 11 2013). She said that she tried to interest her editor in a story that I and my friend would want to eloborate to her about, but the editor thought that there were already lab-rat stories that sounded too similar to each other and he rejected the project. However Maggie had indicated to me that she is working on presenting the story to other editors. I am planning on talking with Maggie along with my other lab-rat friend. We both have experienced and witnessed a lot in our various participations in clinical trials. We believe that it will take particularly-articulare, or at least significantly-articulate persons so as to detail things in a way that will translate well in print.
