Clinilabs is about to undertake a big gamble in the middle of COVID Central where 20000 people died. The 10 day study(covid can result with individuals showing no symptoms to taking up to 14 days for symptoms) does not do a COVID lab test. Subjects and staff could be a point of infection with disastrous consequences. Dr.Gary Zammit who is affiliated with Columbia University which hospital saw many dead should be more responsible. He should put health over profits. Many study centers that are not in hotspot test for Covid. May be the health department or Governor Cuomo will step in to protect a vulnerable population many who are cash strapped and desperate.
The drug itself interfere with pain receptors so if there pain related mini clots in the muscles from COVID it may go unnoticed.
May God help us all. Members of the medical profession need to be responsible. If they cant the department of health should do the right thing and investigate them.

I respect your point of view but i'm going to give another one. These are healthy subjects willingly signing a contract to perform a service. Every time we sign a contract for a study we are taking riskes. There could be risks with the study drug. There are also risks of food poisoning, flu, common cold, among other things. Covid-19 is just another possible risk associated with being in a study. We have the choice whether to sign the contract or not. I don't see a problem with clinics being for studies. There is no current mandate restricting them so it comes down the clinic and subject choice. I just withdrew from contention for a study because I didn't like all the restrictions being instituted by the clinic. I didn't want to be in the environment for over a month straight regardless of the money. There were 30 other people who were happy to do it. We all made a choice.

ac that is in part my point. Testing ensures they are dealing with healthy subjects and staff. While there each subject will have over 120 close contact with staff that are impossible to do while social distancing. An EEG fitting becomes the same as a haircut in terms of time contact with subjects. Multiply that 120 close contact with a technicicians moving through different subjects you are creating a condition for a COVID tsunami. At screening visit a senior member of staff was reported to be notably flushed. I wonder what his temperature would have revealed. Lastly testing is not just about contract and noney. We have over 100000 dead. Hippocratic Oath do no harm

I know this thread has not seen a response since May 30 but from the standpoint of a person who lives in central NJ and in a county with currently over 5K cases, and worked in Hackensack and Paramus in the region where one of the first NJ Kung Flu cases was widely news focused at that local hospital there.
I got there by public transit several days a week in the beginning of the outbreak (let's say from Jan through March). I talked to people daily plus to the conductors, train men, bus drivers, etc. I don't know anyone who had the current plague. I never met anyone who had it in their families. This was in the pre mask era. People said they went to the doctor early in the year with soing but at that point, even the doctors didn't know it was a novel virus.
I stood in Targets and Acmes and Walmarts giving out coupons and samples. One young lady said "did you hear about the flu from China?" to me the whole 3 months.
Now . . . I am not saying it did not happen and it's so redundant to bring up the scores of stupid actions on all fronts about this thing but, if you want progress, keep government out of healthcare. (and for God's sake, please, nobody with the last name Cuomo already.)
There was talk of states not reing until there is a vaccine. How do we get one, if not clinical trials? I know the trial at Clinilabs was not for a vaccine. Florida has let CROs and the clinics remain as essential the whole time!
The government should let the medical industry do its best research and not interfere in the truly genius potential that is out there. The problem is that lots of truly genius cures are not found because of the government and the medical community status quo. If you don't believe me, do some research into the end of the Jerry Lewis telethon. They fired him to shut him up.
Just my worm's eye view of things from NJ (where life officially now s*cks).
