How is Paraxel these days? Have they changed at all. Been about two years now since I did my one and only screening. I turned it down because of a nose biopsy they wanted to do.
I'm mainly concerned with cancellations. I remember hearing stories of screening cancellations without notification. Do they still do that? Or cancel at last minute? Would be very risky going down there again as it's a bit of a hike.

call to verify all the details before you go. expect to be lied to. record the calls and when you get there and if it's a bait and switch, report that to the irb, which won't do anything... i did a study there this year after not screening there for 7 years because of bad screening experiences.
later edit: however the confusion in the screening department can sometimes work for you. i came in and got to screen for the study i wanted, which they told me on the phone was full, but gave me an appointment for a different study. so they are pretty good about letting you screen for soing else if you don't get in the first one.

"Soing" review board, they are the government agencies that supposedly directly monitor study clinics (clinics give you contact information every time you screen) but as you will soon find from reading this board they are for the most part rubber stamps for the clinics so they can keep doing whatever with the appearance of propriety.

institutional review boards are not government agencies, but they are required by law for the study to have one. they are nominally independent boards. in practice, a company can pick and choose from the thousands of irbs, and the company pays the bills, so the irb will tend to go along. every consent agreement form lists who the irb is an how to contact them. otherwise it can be hard to find out. googling company x and irb may tell you nothing, at least where x = . i know i have an consent form here somewhere, i need a better filing system.

Yeah, I only vaguely pay attention to the details of IRBs since they have no significance to my life, or apparently anyone elses.

Well, this is my first study. I went to Baltimore Parexel, which I BELIEVE stands for the french "par excellence".
On June 28th, 2016. I screened.
Today is July 8th and I do not know whether or not I am in the study which starts inpatient in less than a week.
Is this normal?
