they dont tell you what you don't ask. always ask, how many in the study? how many alternates? how many will you screen? it's hard to get a straight answer to that third question, so you may need to rephrase it a few times, and if they still wont tell you, tell them to have the study coordinator get back to you, because you'll need to know that. they are -supposed- to answer your questions so your consent can be informed, but sometimes they don't. groups of 8 are pretty common these days and i try to avoid those screenings because of high odds. but being number 18 doesnt mean you won't get in. typically 1/3 will flunk the screening, some won't show up, say they have 4 alternates so 12 total you might make it into that group. ask if there is a next cohort you could roll over to. i've never been to worldwide.
