here now for the second time.
it's a mixed bag. i heard they got some funding and will be having a bunch more studies.
the staff and the doc are great, and the town is great. the studies tend to be short, so relatively low pay. because nobody could stand to be here long. small, crowded, noisy. the food repeats after the 3rd day.
since i was here last, it's gone from being 50% black to 85% black, so that affects the noise levels.
i forgot to bring my headphones. bunk beds with 4-8 people per room although i lucked out with a single this time. you spend the day in one small room on hard chairs with the tv blaring. it's similar to morgantown or fargo or pharmamedica in that respect. you don't have to eat all the food. lots of complaints about the food. every meal has sprite or fake lemonade, almost every meal has either the ceasar salad or the fruit cup. lots of pork, lots of barbeque, served lukewarm. a few nice items like wild rice and catfish and a tolerable pasta dish, but its the same stuff over and over.
at most places, side effects are rare and you might as well be getting the placebo. from what i've seen, that's less true here. about half of us in this study have mild side effects, the previous study had severe ones. people being released too drugged up to drive safely.
if you come for a screening, ask about the low t screening at the same time, it pays $50. if you come for a screening, use my name as referral and we can split it. pm me for that info, i don't promise i'll see it in time. they never actually do the low-T study, they just keep screening for it.
