Has anyone been banned from a study(not clinic) due to cholesterol? I suppose you might not know, but I wont assume it. I went to one place that was kind enough to send lab results, and my total cholesterol was bline high, even though a study of half a million Korean men showed it was the level with the least mortality. I believe my HDL("good" cholesterol) is likely still quite high, which contributes to that overall number. They didnt break it down at all, and obviously didnt break down the LDL, which has some components which are worse than others.
The letter I got from the clinic just informed me about it, and said soing like "While it likely wont keep you from being selected, we wanted to inform you". I kind of believe them because I did get invited to the study check in, but am still concerned if it will be considered in the final cut with alternates(this clinic uses results, not the you screen in).
If they say it wont likely effect my selection, why screen for it in the first place? I'm guessing I may know the answer, but I'd rather see what others say without giving suggestions that may influence their answers. Yes, I get into every aspect of this, and due to my circumstances, this particular study is quite important to me. I've since done extensive research on what can help bring your levels down, even though I already eat a rather strict diet and am not overweight.
If anyone got banned from a study for this, would they know if it was after check in when alternates get sent home? Thanks in advance for anything you can offer to help me. Those were the only numbers I had that weren't in the normal range, and they're bothering me for study purposes, but not for real life where there are current arguments about proper acceptable/optimal levels.
If anyone cares, I think my levels may have went up because Ive recently started drinking Kava Kava(I've at least proven that the liver scares about the Noble variety are BS) for relaxation, and recommend it to about anyone. I'm still drinking it at this very moment, and it helped motivate me to write this and at least strt the 1 page VCT list, finally. Beats the heck out of alcohol in my book. Of course I'd stop plenty before the study, but if that letter was correct, the cholesterol numbers likely wont effect the selection process?
