usually, a pill is a pill and you don't notice any side effects except those listed in the consent (e.g. some pills can cause headaches or nausea, etc., but usually nothing. Since, to be in the study, you don't have hiv, it's unlikely you'll notice any effects. Do read the consent, do ask questions, but don't panic. Dallas er's Club was a movie about the toxic affects of the first early aids meds, and is worth watching, but the industry has come a long way since then. Two of my friends (that I know of, many more that i didn't know of) died from aids, so that's one of the reasons i do this for a living.

Has anyone taken hkv antiviral meds as part of a research study if so how did you feel after taking it? I am scared need advise never been a lab rat before Did you end up doing the study? Quntiles was doing one not that long ago, and they actually emailed me the informed consent. Besides the "usual suspsects" listed as possible side effects, I seem to remember this particular drug having much worse, including hair loss. Now as one doctor or nurse practitioner at Celerion explained to/reminded me for another study, the drug for that particular study was at a subtherapeutic dose, which is soing to keep in mind. Vark brings up a good point about the early days of AIDS medication, that it was actually the drugs people were dying from, and not the "HIV virus". The movie he mentioned, as best I recall, was one I enjoyed. I'd also like to offer a documentary, which when I shared with someone, almost got him to quit his medication. It has every notable name involving the issue(nobel prize winners disagreeing with one another, etc), and changed the way I viewed the entire medical industry, when I had previously thought I had no interest or reason in watching such a documebtary. It was a maybe 5 years ago when I watched it, but I can still remember when he asks a question of a nurse and looks back at the camera after she answers. Not only did it make me laugh, but it may have been the most telling moment of the documentary. Not dry or dull at all, as best I recall. I recommend it to anyone, even if like me, you think you'll have no interest. There is a good chance that like me you'll never think of "HIV", and more importantly the medical industry, the same ever again.
