A little about me: I am just getting started in clinical trials . Became unemployed and was doing small outpatient studies until someone told me about Covance and it has ed up a new world of making money.
So I am trying to do more inpatient studies and am hoping to do even more next year.

Here I go again. Covance Daytona has a study that I went to screen for. The screener failed to tell me that due to 64 blood draws and 4 dose days over a 9 day period you have to have at least two really great veins. I have one great and one good but they said the sponsor being very picky so I drove three hours for nothing. I really wish the screeners were better informed because if I knew that the PK draws were going to be 15 mins apart for the first two hrs and that the sponsor required really great veins I would have opted out. So anyone screening be aware if you think you might have an issue. I guess I could have said I wanted to screen anyway but they pretty much talked me out of it. So hoping they will have a better study soon.

If people show up to screen who aren't qualified that costs everyone money that could be saved. Everyone, subject, clinic, sponsor all benefit from better information sharing.

For sure. They just posted Covance DB same drug different study so I made screening appointment and then called clinic directly to speak to the coordinator and find out if I had a good change of qualifying. For the new study half the blood draws so I am screening for it but I guess we have to be really proactive to not waste time and money.

Excellent feedback and suggestion - would a question on the study submission for Study Scavenger and JALR about number of blood draws over number of days be beneficial? We could amend the posting form to give better information to the volunteers. Any thing else that would be beneficial ?

Kerri part of the issue is the phone screener did not have all of the information about the study. They might know how many total blood draws but do not have the break down like how many pk days and how many blood draws on pk day and with Covance they do straight sticks so if a port was being used that would be helpful information regarding blood draws. With a port it would not be an issue. And I have found most L.R. don't ask or care about blood draws because if someone tells me about a study and I ask them they do not know because to them getting in is the important issue $$.
I have not been out of state but if people could comment on if a clinic puts in a port, which I think most do for pk days, that would be great. I guess it is just learning about how each clinic operates and asking questions until you get the answers you need. I would love to travel out West or up North if I thought I had a good chance of getting in a study but traveling can get expensive and some comments about different facilities makes me think twice. Like the competitive calling and clinics that chose by screening day instead of labs. I recently asked about Axis Clinical Trials in Minnesota because they called me but since I have no info on them I am leary to fly up there though the study pays 3,500. So am still hoping someone will comment on them.
