Just curious to how your experience has been doing studies with covid still out there. What are clinics doing right or wrong? some clinics better than others? I'd say I was pretty comfortable at my Spaulding study in July. Ideally they could have given us all our own room, but I feel comfortable with the distance there and the curtains between roommies. Staff was masked and gloved always, and we had to wear masks in halls and during events...and they would let you know (kindly) if you slipped up or kept your sniffer out.
Anyone go to covance or , are things much different? Are they keeping the number of subjects the same in the room?

at celerion, we got tested for covid 3 times, and twice daily temperature checks. staff got tested every 2 weeks. masks of course. we got a serious lecture at the beginning about how by doing a study we were increasing our risk of exposure. i disagreed, because my exposure risk at amazon was much higher. which was what i was doing for two months waiting for studies to start back up. they put us in a hotel room isolation for 2 days at the start of the studywhile they waited for the test results. also, they kept us in house for the whole study, instead of sending us home between parts, so it ended up paying more than usual. so it was a lot more than lip service; they redesigned how they do studies to minimize for covid risk.

Seems like they did a good job, any changes in the rooming situation?

Are any clinics doing the nose detection test similar to NFL players have to take to enter training facilities? Thanks.

They had us sit outside and didn't get anything started until after 6:45. It was almost 8:00 by the time they let us in the building. If they are going to do that when the weather gets colder then I won't be doing studies there until things go back to normal. I'm not sitting outside for 1.5 hours because they are not competent enough to get things done indoors. Covance was cleaning the bathroom after every time someone had to use the bathroom. The doors were locked even when not on collection and cleaned after everytime someone had to pee. That is way too excessive. I won't be back until the bathrooms are back to normal.

Thanks for the Covance update AC, yeah the lockdown bathrooms are a big annoyance there for sure. I'd be a little uncomfortable with 3 other guys in the room...if they are still doing that. I got word is doing just one person per room if they can. but they have a nice injectable study there now were you don't have to go in house for anyway.

Seems like they did a good job, any changes in the rooming situation? It was 1 per bunk with plexiglass barriers, but 5 of us in a barracks like room, and one guy stirred up trouble and i got blamed for it, and they wouldn't let me change to another room that they weren't using at all, so i might be on their **** list now. so i made decent money but have no plans to go back.

I've been to PPD, Spaulding, Celerion, and now I'm about to check out of Icon. Icon doesn't seem to give a sh about the virus! It's the only clinic I know of that isn't testing subjects or staff. They have a mask rule but don't enforce it. It's impossible to maintain your distance because of how crowded it is. They have tape on the floor to show how the 6-foot distance, but you can always just move the chairs right next to each other and carry on a conversation with one, or two, or three of your friends without masks, in the hallway in full view of everyone, but no one will say anything to you about it. Everyone's attitude seems to be "As long as you're wearing your mask, you're safe", which is absolutely false. I would say that maybe it's a Texas thing, but PPD has taken the complete opposite approach, so I don't know. I don't think I'll be doing another study here for a while. Also I never thought I'd rate Icon worse than Worldwide, but at least Worldwide is testing everyone (or so I hear, I haven't been there since this all started).

According to how you describe it, there must be some violation on the part of that clinic. However what department has the job of checking up on that? I would have to make another post about this, but, I have been told that every major pharmaceutical company has been sued. Have any CROs or research sites? By whom? For what? How? CROs are untouched by law . In the greatest sense there are hardly any laws that apply to them because they are a niche type of business. But maybe some thing really extreme has to happen such as an entire group of volunteers and staff have to get infected at that facility before anyone wakes up and realizes that the facility has to enforce safety protocols.
