Hello!
So, here's the deal: my dumb *** got a DUI about 7 years ago. Last week, I did the first time telephone interview with ICON in Lenexa. And I didn't tell them about the DUI, because I thought it would have dropped off my record. But, apparently in California it takes 10 years. Ooooops.
If you were me, how would you proceed? Assuming I go in for an in-person screening, should I correct the info and tell them about the DUI? Or am I already screwed?
Will the DUI disqualify me from studies? Do they even do misdemeanor background checks?
Other than that my record is clean.
Thank you!

LOL I'm sorry but absolutely not. Participating in trials has NOTHING to do with your record, criminal or driving. Are you kidding me? Half the people I've done studies with have felonies, one guy I was talking to had a murder charge. Cool guy though.
I'm over in New Jersey and I'm tapped in with ones in NJ and a couple in NY. I'm not sure about Kansas but clinical trials have nothing to do with DUIs or any of that. I'm pretty sure none of them background check. If they then a lot of clinics wouldn't even be able to fill up their quotas. A lot of trials I've been completed have very stringent requirements as it is. But hell I wouldn't mind background checks, some of these people are just eh...
Sorry for the long response but short answer no, none of that has anything to do with testing a drug. What matters if your vital statistics, BMI, lack of drug use etc.

What matters if your vital statistics, BMI, lack of drug use etc. This isn't entirely correct, you should refrain from giving advice for soing you aren't 100% sure about (no insult meant, just being informative myself). Some places most definitely have background checks (not common but it's a thing) for criminal records for the purposes of determining eligibility. The only one I'm 100% off the top of my head is Abb.vie (had to add a period due to some algorithm) but I remember screening at Alta Health Sciences in Kansas, and I'm fairly certain I signed consent documents to have a background check performed (I didn't get in, so I don't know the outcome of that one). Just call the places is my advice and lay out what you told us. It's pretty doubtful they'd bar you for a DUI, especially one so long ago, these background checks are mostly for hard felonies like drug convictions and murder. Also it probably makes a difference if your DUI was a misdemeanor vs a felony.

What exactly did I say that was incorrect? Other than some places do (new to me) conduct checks, didn’t know that. But I stated that testing these medicines have nothing to do with criminal record, and they don’t. But like I said I wouldn’t mind checks on these places. But yes I agree with you…..call to inquire that’s the smartest thing.
