Hello, I am looking for locations that allow a vegetarian diet. There will obviously be some studies that are diet specific, and demanding that a site makes specific meals for a small subset of people is silly, but there must be some locations that just let you eat what you want from what you are given if appropriate for the study.
I have made some phone calls and have been universally denied, with each location mentioning going off a vegetarian diet during the stay. After 25 years of being a vegetarian this is definitely not happening, plus it doesn’t seem like a good idea on their end, because the sudden reintroduction of meat to a long term non-meat eater causes all sorts of very unpleasant gastrointestinal side effects which could skew their results.
Thanks for any info.

Most places can be strict on dose days as far as eating all the food, I do know Frontrea (old Covance) Madison they arn't strict on finishing all your food, same for mostly...but it's all study specific really and most meals at least have some meat...especially heavy on it for lunches for some reason...so you will reduce your caloric intake for ssure. Spaulding is usually pretty strict on eating everthing more than other places I must say.
It would be nice and not too much trouble if they could offer a plant based diet option, let them know at end of study feedback forms...who knows they may change their tune...especially at some of the more big city clinics with larger foreign born populations that may not eat meat. Good luck.
