I know some clinics do informed consent one day and then a physical another day. Is this how Covance Madison works? If not could someone explain how their screening process works ? I will be coming from out of town so want to get a rough idea of the punt of trips I will be making. Thanks!

Well its been a while since i've been there but i'm screening this week and it looks like one day still...like it has always been. Usually its a 10 hour fast and they do all procedures: starting with a "one on one" informed consent with a nurse then urine, blood, and physical and med history etc. 2-3 hours and they give crackers and juice after blood. pretty nice folks. a little bit of work to get there from downtown... check the covance thread for more on that. So you'll only be making one trip to screen...and usually days or weeks before the study here.

at the clinic in morgantown, WV, sometimes the doctor is not there on the day you screen. if you ask ahead of time, they will try to accommodate you but there are no guarantees. most of their volunteers seem to come from the immediate area but they do try hard to work with out-of-towners.
i think it is a good idea to ask ahead of time. for example, i am screening now at OCRC (FL), where usually everything is taken care of in one day, but my hoped-for study has 3 visits before the study starts, and no one told us ahead of time. it has worked out for me since i am staying with a friend, but if i had come down from NYC, which is what i usually do, i would have been upset .... so it is jsut a good idea to ASK first! some recruiters are terrific and will work hard to accommodate their volunteers, others seem not to care at all.
celerion: sometimes they do everything on same day, sometimes not. i think celerion NJ is better in that regard than celerion AZ.

just want to add, i was NOT referring to the OCRC recruiters as being un-caring (in the above post) . they are wonderful!! it is the larger clinics where i have had problems!

most places it's all at once. ppd, jasper, celerion, morgantown have or can have two visits. pharmamedica did it all at once but they werent sure what they were doing. at parexel one time i was told to come back 3 days later which they hadn't warned me about, but that's not the norm there. if you come for a screening somewhere and there is a second screening they didnt tell you about, that's an ethical violation which should be reported, at a minimum, to the irb and the sponsor.

Jasper is a joke, 2 screenings to get into a study that usually pays around 175 a day with a ton of outpatients.
