Hell yeah! Well in your arms at least. Scared veins are less flexible and may act like old pipes in a building that get thick build up and reduce the water stream. The scared veins may actually reduce blood flow in venipuncture in unscared veins if its part of the vein feed. An atypical pulsing feeling in the area may be sign of poor circulation. It may have a rumbling feeling in the arm sort of like the feeling in your tummy when you have diarrhea. In fact, that sensation may be felt anywhere you have a varicose vein at times. Venipuncture can destroy the valves which assist with healthy blood flow and cause the blood to stagnate or even varicose. A sign that the vein may be varicosed is that it begins to bulge like in the case of a heroine addict. An IV infusion of medication into those types of veins could even be dangerous as meds may stagnate and damage the vein and localized tissue.

I do a lot of running and I like my blood flow. This might be a reason for me to quit studies altogether. Is there anyway to counteract the problem? What if you do a needle poke on a brand new spot each time as opposed to the same spot over and over?

Lucky for you if the blood flow becomes sufficiently impaired the body has the ability to make new blood vessel to genate and nourish tissues. The process is called angiogenesis. Exercise encourages angiogenesis so you on the right part. Exercise also encourages new blood vessels in our heart which makes it more efficient and promotes longevity. I would say venipuncture on rotation is a great idea. Everyone should always be looking for a transition opportunity away from studies as no doctor would prescribe a study as way to become healthy! When medical staff tell you that a drug may be of no benefit to you its not a joke. Get that money and make the best use of it because ultimately that check is written against your health! I'm speaking to myself also.
