Tomorrow I either dose or get sent home. It is further than I usually go, but $6900 and I wanted to see Colorado again.
Nice place, a bit upscale, friendly staff, good food real silverware. 4 in this bedroom, when they have a bunch of empty rooms, but they might re-sort us later. the lab rats are a higher quality than average. 3 or 4 studies here now but not crowded or noisy. computer works, although the filter is aggressive about blocking sites. you can see the mountains from the window, they look 1 mile away. i'm staying at a $20/night hostel which is not as nice as most hostels i've been at but it's all i needed. i expect to update this post over the next month if i learn more.
i dosed. right now we are doing a week where we go in in the morning for breakfast and a pill. later we'll be in for 20 days. so i'm exploring denver a bit. it seems like they are going to be accommodating people's dietary preferences more than most places.
edit: it seems like they will accomodate dietary preferences, only if you tell them at screening. and since we all know the dietary preferences question is a trick, one more way to keep you out of a study, of course i didnt tell them at screening. meanwhile, it's a small study, 10 people. they brought in about 19 (nope 14) so i was lucky to dose. the staff is nice, and on days when we get in early they go ahead and dose us early, which is unusual, but i guess for this part of the study time is not of the essence.
edit: doing the second short stay now. this place is really posh. a large room to myself, view of the mountains, vegetarian fruit plate for dinner. this might be the best place i've stayed, in addition to being the highest paying study i've done.
for mike: this place mostly does kidney patient studies. but now and then they have a healthy patient study. the denver clinic is newish, their other one is in, i think, minneapolis. it was listed on the main page for awhile and now it's not. i'd heard about davita from a guy at years ago, so now i'm finally here. tomorrow we check in for a couple of days, then we have a week off, then we are in for 20 days, with one followup. doesn't pay till it;s over which is not a problem for me since i budget.
edit: in the 20 day part now. my main gripe is the internet keeps cutting out and it's a pain to reconnect. right now we are eating stawberry shortcake and watching the equalizer. edit: internet problems sorted. signal is fast and strong.
cannot say enough good things about this place.
edit: nearly done now, and it's ued to be great. meals are kinda small, and getting repetitive, but still better than most places. the staff is so nice here, and the other lab rats are top quality.
