I did an EEG study at City College in NYC last week. They used the cap version and applied the gel with a blunted needle. I think they were a little to aggressive with applying the gel because now I got a couple of small bruises. One of them looks like it's going to form one of those scars that only comes out if I do some med-spa treatments. The informed consent does say minor skin irritation, but these are not minor if I going to need some Hollywood laser facials. They're small bruises, basically the size of the circumference of the blunted needle, but still, it's crazy.
So if any of you are going to do a study that involves an EEG in which they use the blunted needle to apply the gel and you feel like the pressure seems a little extreme then tell them to ease off the pressure.
I've done EEG's before but this one was my first one where they used a blunted needle to apply gel, so I thought the intense pressure was standard so I didn't say anything. Stupid me.
Good luck everyone.
