Hi everyone I'm new to this and went to my first screening today for a clinical trial that is starting soon. It requires over a week of inpatient stays and quite a few outpatients that require 8 hour fasting. My first question is does anyone know if the clinics drug tests look for use? My info packet states they look for "drug of abuse, alcohol or " I catched the first of my stream in case. Also how hard do they search you guys? I'm always hungry and am considering trying to bring some snacks in... Third question, for the follow up out patient visits, have any of you skipped an 8 hour fast and show up? Did your results go any different? Thanks for any answers here

Yes, they test for .
Level of search thoroughness differs between clinics and, in some cases, personnel.
I've accidentally had a 20 oz Coke on my way to a clinic. Total brain fart. Didn't seem to affect anything, but really, I don't know. I'd imagine food would be more likely to skew the data.

Will I be banned if I fail?

depends on the clinic, but flunking a piss test can get you banned for whatever length of time, sometimes forever. so dont go to a screening again until you can piss clean. that usually means around 3 weeks from last use. follow the rules. is a few snacks worth the $2,000, $5,000, whatever they are paying you?
you might get by saying youve fasted fro 8 hours when it was really 7, but if you eat a candy bar right before you go in to screen that will definitely affect your labs.
