So I'm considering doing one of two studies in the near future, which would you pick?
study1: 62 days in clinic with one followup 2 weeks later, pays almost $12,000
study2: 8 days in clinic, they give you the flu, pays $4000
I'm not going to specify locations or which clinics I'm talking about, but the study2 clinic is somewhat nicer and more comfortable than the study1 clinic, though the study1 clinic is not bad.
Study1 is obviously substandard pay, working out to less than $200 a day, but there are only 37 sticks and I think that it is one of those pretty cake studies.
I know a lot of people would find it hard to be confined for 62 days but for me I don't mind it that much. Long studies like this are pretty sweet really because you make money 2 ways, one with the check they give you at the end, and one with all the money you're not spending on booze, food, and loose women that you would be if you were out.
But then on the other hand the flu study is a clearly very superior pay rate: $500 a day, and it's done and over quick. Again, getting the flu given to you might bother some people, but it is not really daunting to me; it's in a clinic, I'm sure they can give you plenty of tylenol and kleenexes if you need them.
Tough decision.

I would go to study one. It's only a little over 2 months and it pays half of what I need for the entire year. If you've been to that clinic and the conditions are reasonable and the wifi is good then i'd go with that. If the wifi is bad or if you are in bunk beds then 62 days would be torture and not worth it, otherwise it's the better option IMO.

I would do the flu study. The day rate is what matters most to me.

Personally I would go for study 1. That's a lot of money!

Yeah plus I forgot to mention the $4000 study has a followup at day 29 and day 60, which really increases the pain-in-the-*** factor for me.
