I am a recruiter. I will lie to you. I will not tell you that your are an alternate. I will not tell you about special ECG/blood pressure/cholesterol/liver function/gall bladder requirements until after you have screened and have been excluded and have to be referred to a physician for a follow-up before you can do any more studies.
I will not tell you on the phone that we are screening 5 million people for a study that is only dosing 2 people. I will waste your money and your time.
I am a recruiter. My job is not to care about you and your problems. My job is to deceive you.

I think that their job is to keep their job. Their job is to get people recruited for a study. They work for a corporation so they do as they are told. You never know how many alternates there will be. I was in a study needing 15 people and 16 showed up for check in but 2 were let go that day and one the next so we ended up with 12. I always keep the mind- set that until I am dosed I am not in and u never know what will happen so just keep an mind. It is all about your labs. Whether you are 30 or 80 it is all about having good labs,bp and ECG
I have been in studies where people have high blood pressure readings, maybe due to nerves, and they are told that they have to get medical clearance to come back. They was a post menopausal study that required vaginal ultrasound and someone I know ended up with a fibroid cyst, which many women have, but she was told she could not come back until she had surgery. So you never know.

Record your calls. The basic principle of studies is informed consent. When they lie to you on a material matter, that violates informed consent, so if they conduct procedures on you after lying to you, that's potentially battery and a violation of medical ethics.

Your post actually got me to realize there are apps for such things, so I downloaded one. Thanks! (there's quite a volume differential between myself and the other person, but it does it's job).
