Newbie here, recently screened for the first time at SNBL (which I already knew used VCT.) A lot of friends are career lab rats and I did a bit of research before diving in, so I thought I was prepared but now I'm afraid I did soing stupid with my medical history.
I'm a somewhat heavy tobacco smoker but I can put them down for a few weeks if necessary. I was pretty honest during my medical history interview but for some reason panicked when asked about drug use, and I said I picked up smoking for a bit and "tried " as a teenager. Regardless of my screening results for this study, does the system mean any other VCT clinic will know my history if I consent and I can't lie in the future?
Also, does it generally even matter if you (truthfully or not) picked up a habit and stopped within the last 10 years or so?

legally i think VCT can only share the basic info of which clinics within the VCT system you have gone to and when. Read the VCT form and see what you agreed to!
some clinics (usually the larger ones) have extremely strict protocols. and many sponsors do as well.
years ago, after being banned from a major clinic for a very silly reason, i decided not to reveal anything that they have no way of seeing or knowing. i have a few surgical scars so i have to unfortunately explain them but otherwise i keep my history to myself. (And all my close lab rat friends do as well.)
for example, i do not believe it matters one hoot that i had asthma 60 years ago. heck, in a few more years i won't remember one way or the other anyway! i simply do not believe the science behind Phase 1 drug testing is that precise. maybe in a few hundred years (if humans last that long) it will be.
i also believe that "they" do not care as much about our health and safety as about their liability. but i am a cynic. many may have a different opinion.
