I've also been trying to get back into the medical study circuit to no avail. My weight loss efforts have been very sluggish even after giving up the alcohol and junk food. I've been exercising everyday. God how I hope things turn around for me. Things have been going from bad to worse. My finances are dwindling. One good paying study is all I need to get me out out of this... I'm in the same situation. Probably worse because I have a gambling habit that I don't plan on giving up. Like you said , all it takes is one good study. Happy hunting.

I always expect the end of the year, especially December to be a ghost town for studies - which it was, but then picks up in January. Has been completely dead for big overnight stay studies. Anyone else notice this? No...its never been this dead before. The end may be nigh... one Covance closing, another half closing, another doing ridiculous waiting lists, and the other doing just radio-label...ugh... Jasper doing it's thing, places in general having little.... but at least I have returned have to try to liven things up a bit. A quick look and it appears the place has been overrun by spam.

Yea. It is true. The end is nigh. Im convinced it has soing to do with the orange ****-stain we have in the oval office. He cut funding to medical research amomg other things. This is going to be a tough 3 1/2 years. I didnt support Hillary but...im convinced things would have remained the same as they have been for the last few years had she been elected to serve. It probably would have been alot better for all of us. Woah, simmer down for a moment, Jack! I wanted to address these charges earlier but didnt feel compelled to until now. How many, if any, of the studies we do does the government fund? Whether we like Chump of not, he's right to try to cut out of control government spending, especially where it's not necessary. This appears to be such a case, where these mega corporations can easily foot our bill(much more if they chose to!!!!!), and government has no need to spend anything on the studies for Big Pharma. My question is serious though. These companies still have to do the studies if they want to bring their drugs to market. I'm not sure if there is a convenient answer as to why things have been slow in our circles, at least one that is correct. If there is, I have not seen it yet. As slow as it is on here, I'd gladly welcome any discussion on why the studies seem to have slowed down. I just doubt it has much to do with one man, at least not the President. Speaking of one man, I'd love to get Paul's take on why things have slowed down...or if it's just our eption, or what.

I actually like out of control government spending if it benefits me, lol. Heck yea. Things will get better for us when Cheeto Puff gets defeated in the next election by a Democrat. That is if i dont get banned from every clinic in the meantime. You can only take so much crap before you snap. I have a screening coming up this month. This is my last chance. If i dont snag a spot...itll be over. www.youtube.com/results?search_query=when+you+get+on+the+whisky+john+anders

Anyone else notice this? I am new to starting studies. Are there any companies whom will pay you prior to showing up to the facility?

I am new to starting studies. Are there any companies whom will pay you prior to showing up to the facility? None will pay prior but most offer compensation for screening. Anywhere from $25-100. Sometimes it can be more if they require extra procedures like chest ays. Usually handed to you as cash.

I haven't had the fortune to go to any of these yet.

i have been paid cash at screenings before but i don't know if i can remember the different clinics. i do remember getting $100 bill at SUNY in NYC for a dry eye study. i also think that when i screened at BioTrials in NJ in May that they gave me $10 in cash.
many of the university hospitals pay in cash, such as NYU and Columbia, for both the screening and the study.
i think but am not 100% sure that i was paid in cash at PMR in FL.
i know there have been more but alas, their names elude me.

Travelingrat does PMR do healthy studies. Since I am in Florida would be easy place to drive to.
