I was always surprised by how much some people liked this place. I went once at the old building, once at the newer one, & absolutely hated it both times.
The greasy food at the newer building was the worst I've had at the nine clinics I've been to. Maybe it improved later, but I was horrified by it.
No quiet room. I agreed to do a study at the newer facility only because they told me it, unlike the old one, would have a quiet room. I get there, for a weeks-long study, walk down the two, count them TWO hallways (the place felt like a psych ward for moderately dangerous criminals), see no quiet room. I'm told: "Oh, we moved the TV in there, because when it was near the pool table, the pool-playing sounds were bothering the TV watchers." Thanks!
The rooms were large, but they weren't really "rooms." The walls were thin & moveable. It was like being in a storage facility.
Then there was the staff's horrible attitude. I didn't really notice this when I'd been at the old building a few months before, so it may have had to do with increased pressure from management at the new place. Certainly the woman who seemed to be running the place--I wish I could remember her name--was an evil b*tch par excellence. Shockingly rude to me & several others.
And then there was just the general weirdness, which I've seen others here comment about. (Someone compared the staff to Scientologists once.) At one point in my second study there a tech, thinking she'd heard someone in my room (the door was closed) "use the F word," called us each into the hallway individually to investigate. I told her this was nuts--R-rated movies were playing on every TV, & we were all adults, so what did it matter? She walked away smirking & later told the facility manager that I had "tried to intimidate her with my body language." (I think I gestured in a fairly normal way when speaking.) I wasn't banned or disciplined, but I never went back.
Awful place run by freaking weirdos. They did love their regulars, though. I remember how they'd fawn over this or that village idiot who practically lived there. Their favorites wouldn't show up to an OPV, & it seemed to be no big deal. "Oh, Eddie called, said he has soing else to do." I suppose if you were in that group & have no standards at all about housing, food, etc, the place was great.

Skimming employee reviews on glassdoor (a good source for inside gripes about clinics), there's a consensus that LabCorp, who bought Covance a few years ago, have run the company into the ground. LabCorp were rumored to be ing PPD recently, btw. www.modernhealthcare.com/article/20170425/NEWS/170429914

I agree with franz's assessment. After they got rid of the promised quiet room, the supposed policy was that your bedroom was the designated quiet area. But when in my 6th study there i asked my roommates to stop playing the tv 20 hours a day, I was called a troublemaker and effectively banned from all covances. I have a problem when a clinic lies to you in writing about the rules; informed consent is supposed to be the bedrock principle of studies, and if they aren't following their own rules there isn't really informed consent. The evansville place was like the evil twin of the madison facility, which I would still be going to if they'd let me. But the people at madison, and corporate in new jersey, didnt care about what was going on in evansville. I don't know if their studies will be shifted to the other places, or if covance is just getting smaller. Downsizing duplicated facilities is not unusual after a merger.

Yes, they're downsizing big time. Covance Madison is going radio label ONLY now. Half the staff got notice of lay offs.

Well I guess I won't have to worry about finding a hotel after all!!!

Well I hope it does not affect the Daytona clinic since I live in Florida.

Yes, they're downsizing big time. Covance Madison is going radio label ONLY now. Half the staff got notice of lay offs. I wonder if there is some Wisconsin law favorable to radiolabeled studies.

No, not Scientologists, just Bible Belt.

Covance Madison is the only Covance that does radio label. I think its probably because of the bathroom situation. The way its set up there is easier on the staff.

The staff says they don't know exactly, but probably by fall.
