I am scheduled to go in next Tuesday for a study its minus day 1 . They said last time I screened my Nuerophils of my White Blood cells was like 1300 they want it to be at least 2000. Has anyone every had this problem. It would suck to pack for 6 days show up only to be sent home.

This is an old post but everyone who has stayed with lab-ratting long enough will have experienced such a thing, being sent home after you had your heart set to participating in the study. Also if you have been a lab rat long enough you will see others being sent home after being prepared to participate. If it is not one thing it is another. Some people have problems with ups and downs of blood pressure. For others it is blood ranges in hemoglobin or neutrophils or white cell count or red cell count or hematocrit etc. Being a professional lab rat is like being a small time actor ually auditioning for bit parts and roles here and there and regularly being rejected. (I have a friend who is a small time actor).

My bp goes up,performance anxiety. I just had it done and was thinking to try and see the whole process as me being on stage and I am just acting out a part for this particular play. So strange that I just saw yr post. But it is upsetting/disheartening when you invest time and money and get sent home. It happens to all of us and we just have to keep trying. My labs always good so it is my bp that has gotten me kicked out usually at screening.

So strange that I just saw yr post. L-Arginine. It is a nitric oxide booster and lowers your blood pressure and heart rate. I actually once got excluded from a study because my resting heart rate was too low while taking it (I think it was either 45-50 bpm). The screening doctor actually asked me if i was an athlete because of it. It is also not a "detectable" substance, its an amino acid, so you can take it right before you walk in, and it lasts like an hour or two, no adverse effects. Its sold in supplement stores, most notably rite-aid and maybe i think walgreens sells their own brand for cheap.
