I'm a mild smoker and have stopped altogether for a week, but I've come across information regarding ine that cause me some concern. Does PPD test for this? If so, how long do I have to be smoke free to clear a screening?

i am not a smoker but i researched this once for someone, i jsut can't remember the answer, however, i am posting to let you know that there is a lot of info on the internet about this subject. jsut google some general questions about the topic and a lot of info will come up.
i seem to remember that it takes longer than one week ... but i really do not know for sure so just try that google search. and best wishes.

Just about every clinic for almost every study tests for ine. It Depends how "mild" of a smoker you were really. you may need more time,(I've heard mixed results on this) though any trace amounts they will just consider it second hand smoke exposure.

So could it potentially ban me for life if I fail this? And also, the internet information varies greatly. I'd just like a little more clarity on what PPD looks for.
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback.

ine is out of your system really quick. 72 hours after your last smoke. A little longer if you smoke menthols. CHEAP testing kits are available on ebay. They are the same kind of testing kits they use in the lab.

72 hours will allow the required 5 half lives for ine in a typical body, based on widely accepted 1/2 life of 15 hours. Give it one more day to be rock solid on that for variables due to your metabolic rate for ine, what kind and how many you smoke per day. For example, last smoke on a Tuesday night, then look for studies with the first physical screen on the following Monday.

Menthol cigarettes are reputed to have higher levels of ine.

i haven't been to ppd. i don't smoke, but twice i've flunked ine screenings. one place, i got banned for a year, the other place, i just didnt get in that study. some places use a more sensitive test than the drugstore ones.

I didn't have a problem and have since done 2 studies. I'd say give it a good week and you're good.
