I have a screening for a study I don't want to be in. But I need the screening fee. How can I fail without being dinged permanently?

bad bad idea. find an alternative. back when this was paul's jalr, we tried to cultivate a sense of being ethical lab rats. this is bad for you, and bad for lab rats in general. it encourages clinics to not pay screening fees. this site is currently owned by people who don't trust us, and mine this site for info to use against us, so few people post here anymore. this was the one place lab rats used to be able to network, in the way robert helms' zine lab rat zero was intended to do.
when places dont pay screening fees, it moves more of the expense of trials onto the poor desperate people who are trying to get in. i used to have to screen three times to get into a study, on average. now i'm older and in worse health, so i've mostly given up studies, thinking i'll lose more money traveling than i'd make. i might try it again just because i'm broke and desperate, but i'm not sure i can mke any money at it. it kept me alive for 9 years, although some years i just broke even.
i suggest you delete or edit your post.
if you get in, they cannot compel you to do the study against your will. but its not in your long term interest to screen for a study you dont want.

If there are research-site workers, or study doctors or researchers, or CRO managers ( etc) watching this site to see what us lab rats say, providing that there are many of them than just two or three, then one would think that there would be some of those research people who see our situation and the difficulties we face and would try to communicate and try to make things better for lab rats.
I guess that is unrealistic
