NOVUM was my first study.. and I have to say.. this place made me cringe .. I really thought I was in Jail.. (I have never been).. but this place was like it.. there was fights, people were stealing blankets.. hiding remotes to the TV.. the bathroom was crazy dirty, so was the whole place, I thought I was going to get an infection, I did a skin study and they dosed us on the same tables that we ate off of.. I don't know if I would like to do a blood study at this place.. I heard a rumor that they are getting another clinic not the dirty one.. but.. I don't know.. just be careful.. I did not want to take a shower.. because.. you would have to do that bare footed... EWWWW.. no thank you..

60 ent of the subjects here are fresh out of jail or have recently served time, no joke.

Yeah I have heard real bad news about Novum Houston for years. I screened a couple times at Novum Las Vegas, and it does not seem to be quite as filthy and honked up as Houston, which is surprising because Las Vegas is literally crawling with freaks, weirdos, and people who have just been out in the sun way, way too long. But they consistently have undesirable studies: low pay + shitloads of sticks + sketchy drugs being tested. It's like they get the bottom of the barrel when it comes to studies.

Here is a typical study at Novum Las Vegas: come in for about a 48 hour in house stay over a weekend, get stuck at least 23-25 times, come in for follow-ups every day of the week (more sticks), come in for another weekend stay just like the last one, get paid $600 or so. Probably testing some new form of to treat ADHD. Sucks. You should make well over $1000 for a study like this.

Novum in general sucks (all locations.) this one is the worst though, half the population is straight out of jail (no joke), and unless you want to hear loud rap music all day and get stuck much more than other clinics you won't like it here. Easily the worst in the nation that I've been to so far.

i've been doing studies 8 years, novum has my number and can call me as soon as they get a decent study; they havent called. it might be ok for your first study to see how bad it can get, then it's uphill from there. the other study places should send an observer to novum for what not to do. the same trends can be spoted at certain other clinics.

For the 5 years I was in Texas, Worldwide had a LOT of studies that were usually like $1100 to $2800, and they often had outpatient visits that were cumbersome to anyone who didn't have a place to live near there. They rarely had higher paying studies, but if they had soing that was 6 or 7 grand or more, it usually had outpatients that went on for at least 6 months.

Between September 2014 up until now, I've done a total of seven studies and they were all at novum in Houston because I live in Houston. And I can guarantee it is just the WORST. It's like I don't even know where to begin. I mean, 80% of the participants just got out of prison or has some form of prison history. Guys expose themselves to the nurses and novum bans them for 30 days and let's them come right back. Fights break out, there's stealing, and the bathrooms are disgusting. I mean a real biohazard zone. People throw cups and cotton balls on the floor. The food is NASTY. Participants sneak and have sex with each other. I mean the list just goes on and on, and I haven't even got started on the staff. The only reason I go up there is because I can't find a decent paying job and I'm trying to get back in school, not to mention my debt. I would like to try PPD in Austin just once so I can myself a car.

Wow, I doubt i would go to Texas from Florida and i have also heard that Covance Texas is not to good either but i am sure not as bad as Novum. I hope u can find a way to do studies out of Huston. Read some posts and get some info on taking a bus to Austin. I have heard of a megabus but dont have any real information. Thanks for sharing as it really sucks to do a first time study sonewhere and get stuck in a dump hell hole. Just thinking that Covance Huston would at least be better than Novum and they probably pay better and pay quick if u direct deposit. Good luck on getting your car .

So this really isn't a review. I just have some questions but hopefully some people can help me with. I have been the other research study groups or businesses like pracks services and a few other local groups. And when registering I screwed up and told them that I had my left foot amputated due to cancer. And a friend of mine that referred me to go to novum told me don't tell them that. Because they don't do medical background checks is that true does anybody know? Also how do they know if a person is a smoker or not. They have these clinical research studies for smokers and non-smokers what if I say I'm a non-smoker but I do smoke are they going to know that? Also I smoked pot do they do drug test? If anybody has any answers to any of these questions could you help me out before I go register for nothing.
