if quintiles doesn't have vct, they at least have an in house version because they trade data with pra.
yesterday i talked to a guy, let's call him "fred" who said he was banned from pra because he was screening at both pra and vince. not doing studies at both, just screening at both. same thing happened to my former roommate (a guy i met via this board years ago.)
if fred is right, PRA is engaging in unethical and coersive recruiting practives, incompatable with the idea of informed consent. anybody know who their irb is? what wasn't clear to me about the facts was whether VCT was involved, and knowingly participating in this scheme. i'd like to know.
meanwhile, another new friend, let's call him "john" says he was banned from medpace ebcause he was sitting in the parking lot after his screening, using the wifi, making travel plans, you know how that is,and security came up and got in his face when he didnt leave instantaneously, with the result that they banned him. this kind of thing, banning people with no warning for made up reasons, is what creates the climate of fear at some clinics that makes people hesitate to report side effects.
i want to encourage if anybody is screening at medpace to ask about this at screening, when they are obligated to answer your questions. you could ask for example "is it true that medpace banned somebody for using the wifi in the parking lot with no warning?" "does medpace understand how that kind of arbitrariness creates a climate of fear that results in people not being willing to report side effects?"
If you do this (and you should), please post their response. One person, they will ignore, but if they hear this from 5 of 6 people, it might get their attention. in general, we should be using this board to stick up for each other, and report abusive behavior by clinics, and try to fix problems when they happen.

Who has VCT: Just Another Lab Rat does. This website is sponsored by VCT/Study Scavenger, which are the same company, except in name. They are probably its greatest source of revenue, and this thread is the best advertising they could ever have. VCT and Study Scavenger are NOT the same company. Study Scavenger is a recruitment company that helps us find studies. That company works with JALR. VCT is the opposite. VCT stops double enrollment. VCT has nothing to do with JALR. Get your facts straight !!

Yes, let's hear of this sinister, devious conspiracy. Straighten your tinfoil hat and regale us with tales of intrigue and subterfuge on a mind-blowingly galactic scale.
Who gives a sh*t? Who cares if Paul is taking advertising from Study Scavenger/VCT/Evil Corp/Dick Cheney/ISIS? What difference does it make? Unless you are blowing off washout periods like a retard, in which case I really don't have any sympathy for you, why would any of it affect you?

I will not hold my breath waiting to see these ne'er-do-well louts, "Efros and Weingard" (sounds like this seasons' hot new cop buddy Netflix series), be held accountable for their unspeakable crimes against humanity. But maybe you should if you are so convinced.
Based on what I have seen thus far emanating from your addled mind, I would guess that they are no more guilty of "serious ethical violations" than your average used car salesman, if that.
So they have their hands in the study volunteer world, trying to make some kind of living in multiple auxiliary services. So what? But you keep it up furiously digging up all the dirt on them.
And it's slightly flattering but more disturbing how closely you pay attention to my history and everything I say; but you need to check YOUR OWN math, I am about 95%+ sure that I have never violated a washout period even slightly.
And as for the accusation of censorship here? This is what really makes me wonder at your level of delusion. You are allowed to go on and on with your posts here even though you are almost always insulting and flaming to other people without provocation, and your comments are quite often either not useful and/or possibly intentionally or unintentionally misleading, wrong, or deceptive. But still I myself have not deleted any of your 68 posts, and have only moved a couple of them that clearly had negative value.

bentham's info on vct/study scavenger checks out. i think it's great that paul is making some revenue from the site after doing it free for years, so i dont mind his deal with study scavenger, of which i dont know the details. but in one of their publications vct rants on about wanting to stop professional lab rats. professional lab rats, that's us. so studyscavenger is promoting itself to its own enemies, the professional lab rats, us. vct and studyscavenger are indeed run by the same people. i dont mind vct's project of trying to screen for people doing studies without washouts, it's good for us if somebody's trying to keep the industry honest. this is soing the fda could do itself if it cared, since they have all the data.

overall i have appreciated many of Bentham's posts. i wish more persons using this forum would post .... about anything! their experiences, their thoughts, their hopes.
i have really benefited from jalr and i do not mind if paul makes extra from advertisers, etc. i do believe that full disclosure and transparency is always a good thing. i also think Bentham brings up some good points. i was upset that the whole Spaulding interchange was deleted and i wish i had downloaded it beforehand. overall my clinical trial experiences have been good, but when they were bad, they were really bad. it helps to learn about the experiences of others and how they handled situations and even just what happened to them.
my main issue with clinical trials is that there are many in the larger pharma world who believe that large compensation encourages persons to do clinical trials they might not do otherwise. i reported in a previous post how i talked with a director of an IRB who said that and also that "no one should do more than one clinical trial per year" and "should not be volunteering as a source of income." Yet, she, and many others (IRB's, Study Scavenger, etc.) are making a living off our backs, yet we are the essential backbone of the pharma industry. how can they get drugs approved without us testing them? yet in the larger world, there is a stigma attached to doing clinical trials. even the IRB director referred to above had that snotty ivory-tower attitude, and she should know better. to me, this is base hypocrisy.
of course, there is a whole history behind the issue of compensation but i believe the whole issue should be re-addressed. i find the whole concept of volunteer to be laughable. my early consent forms all state that compensation is "for time and travel." HA! HA! Forget all those needle sticks, spinal taps (i've done them), vomiting, etc. What a joke. i have written to the FDA but never received a response. and why should "volunteers" pay taxes on this "compensation for time and travel"? up until 2008, we did not have to. so are we temporary employees with rights or volunteers that can be, and have been, dismissed and/or banned for all sorts of arbitrary reasons, our only recourse an IRB who usually rubber-stamps any decisions of a clinic, which is bottom-line a for-profit venture?
