this month I participated in a Study in their Toronto Branch. I stayed there for 2 weekends. it was like serving a prison sentence. I had zero Entertainment options and extremely bored
[What will I do while staying at the clinic?
Our clinic has a state-of-the-art entertainment system including 52-inch LCD televisions, surround sound, and PlayStation3 consoles. With over 200
channels, a DVD collection, and an assortment of PlayStation3 games, we hope to make your stay at our clinic as enjoyable as possible. In addition,
there are computers with high speed internet and lounges with natural lighting, comfortable couches, and an overall peaceful environment for you
to catch up on some work, chat with friends, play a board game, or just relax.]
In a "clicnic" there is a sitting room where you wait for blood draws, and vital and health monitoring. there is a big flat screen tv. it was always tuned to a sports station. In their FAQs they claim that have a dvd collection and tv with 200 channels. there was no evidence of having a dvd collection. the first weekend i was their they briefly tuned the tv to a local news station it was for a couple of minutes then they switched back to the sports station. the second weekend. the tv was on sports all day. on the second weekend i stayed i was getting tired of watching a sports channel al the time. because I don't find watching overpaid grown men running back and forth on afield playing with a ball or a hockey for hours entertaining. me and others repeatedly tell the nurses to switch the tv to a channel which shows movies. they refused using bullshit excuses.
The claim of having High Speed internet is false. the internet is slow and unreliable you can't listen to online internet radio and watch youtube and netflix videos. you constantly get "cannot find server" error messages. I thought it was thier WIFI and many people are using it which is slowing it down. I went into the recreation room to use a computer which is connected by wire and they are just as slow
I tried to listen to AM and FM radio because i could not get music and radio online. the radio signals is weak to non existence. the building block radio signals from local radio stations. here in Toronto the FM and AM Dial is crowded you get stations in toronto and nearby cities and sometimes you can hair Buffalo radio stations. in the building they are weak. in the sleeping bunk rooms. you get most local radio signals. in the sitting Area with the tv and waiting for blood draws the radio signals are extremely week. you could barely hear the local AM radio stations. on the FM dial you could barely hear some of the stations.
they have a PS4 and one game somebody tried to use it but was locked up in glass box. in the recreation room they only have one game
if you plan to volunteer at this clinic. you must have these.
an unlimited data plan on your cellphone if you want to listen to music or online radio. there internet is slow and unreliable
an internet USB stick where you access the internet on your laptop using cellphone 3g or 4g signals. this building slows down AM and Radio signals but not cellphone signals
bring you own movie and tv show dvd collection. these assholes won't change the channel when volunteers are tired of watching a sports channel or some other channel and make excuses not to.
if you don't have these your stay will be equivalent to being locked up in jail with no entertainment options. prisoners in Norway are treated better than this.
