Hi, just getting started here. Thought I would pay it forward and offer to answer questions if anyone is coming for studies in NJ, NY or eastern PA. I live midway between NY and PA and familiar with NJ Transit, Amtrak, bus services, getting around Phila for Penn trials (going on one myself next week) and would be happy to send a note or speak with anyone going to those areas who needs help with travel planning. I usually stick to local studies in my area but am considering going to Daytona Beach for one at COV. I think the screening anxiety is enough without worrying about questionable commutes.
If anyone needs info on best travel options to NJ, Phila, Delaware or NY studies, I can be reached at: all things for less @ Hotmail (dot com) (all one word) (my WFH box) and I check it daily. I can get back to you usually within 24 hours.
For those coming to the tri-state area from out of the region, there are some travel options that most people don't consider, usually cheaper than the standard routes (we have light rail in central to south NJ for $1.50 and a quick hop from Philly for Penn studies, for example). Also there are a lot of non-published trains on NJ Transit depending on what website you are looking at. We also have 3 regional bus services in addition to light rail, and a new line from the shore to Phila.; and discount bus shuttles if you come in by train on the Trenton line ($1 for adults). These are all cheaper than taking Amtrak and NJ Transit or Septa train services. Keep me in mind if you are planning a study visit to NJ PA or Manhattan and let me know if I can help. (Wendy)
