It's probably one of the better run places out there in the mid- Atlantic area. I do keep them on my regular call rotation. If you see soing you really want to get into, keep calling. I messed up by leaving messages insteaed of speaking to someone directly and missed out on the $11K. In hindsight that study would be like 5 months so I would rather not have to wait another month after that to be study-eligible again per VCT. Once I went and they knew I did a fructose study so I went all the way there to be dq'd. I told them the recruiter was informed. I also made them pay me the full $125 screening since my travel expense from NJ was high (last-minute Amtrak).

Heard it filled with PRA staff and VCT a few from PRA --not the ones I would have wanted to see here
I never got the finger scan nor signed a form so, no, I do not think it is correct. also someone who screened with me this week said she did screenings and studies here just about weekly for over a year. Just don't say if they don't mention it. The transport is sketchy and not on the ball with one exception. If you have a delay they do get you screened, etc. They are sticklers about ine so if your study says none, and you test positive, you get dissed until they get in a pickle for participants a loooong time later. This is quite disorganized. I think Pf and SNBL are the more organized of those I went to. It can be quite lenient here but BTST this place has its issues. I would travel hours to Pharmaron first but this is a resort when nothing else is active and it's close enough if I need to make a quick financial gain.

just talked to them last week about screening for a study --- I got a call Thursday about screening the next day, Friday. I couldn't go but she said she would call this week on Monday for additional screen dates but she never did.
I do not rely on their page. I just look for studies in Baltimore on clinicaltrials.gov and that usually gives a contact name for the place with the phone number. That worked pretty well as I inquired on a Monday and got a callback on Thursday. Unfortunately that Friday I had to tie up loose ends for onboarding for a p/t job and needed to be at LabCorp for a pre-employment screen.

fwiw I got disq'd from a testing place in Baltimore by the doctor (one of them) who handles trials there. The other doc seems cool and was one who did the intake questionnaire on medical history (which I have none, really). Now when I call there I have to ask if female Doctor A is doing it; or if male Doctor B is doing it and if the answer is A then I pass. The first doc said I was disqualified from any participation. This is a total slam because for one, when I discussed my smoking history it was for a trial that said light smokers were ok for it. But during my telephone screen I said to the screener several months before even in-person screenings were happening, that I used to smoke a lot more than now and that got in my records. Plus the last one I screened for which caused my ban required a chest ay .... now one would think if soing THAT serious came up on it, first of all, someone would email me; and second, I've had other tests (extensive) with no remarkable conditions. The second doc at Balt clinic wanted to know med history in depth to the point where he wanted to know about scars (from being a clumsy kid and needing stitches) or if I had eyelashes come out and scratch my eye, I guess ; p They probably figure if to keep your ECG in normal range requires supplementation that may be an indicator/precursor that they don't want to stand liability to deal with. The standard medical mumbo will elaborate that "A lengthened QT interval is a marker for the potential of ventricular tachyarrhythmias like torsades de pointes and a risk factor for sudden death." which is ridiculous because it IS all a matter of taking the right nutrients and supplements in the first place to keep the cogs running smoothly yet doctors treat heart patients for years with a crapton of prescriptions and don't address basic nutritional needs like limiting nitrites that can cause aortic aneurysms and statins that literally dry out your brain. And don't even get me on the topic of vegetable oil and its creation : x Also I notice lots of screenings ask what supplements are taken within X days .... I mean really, it's an alphabet of vitamins, not steroids or doping!! sheesh So I tell them I take those little fizzy packets of vitamin c in my water bottle (Emergen-C) once in a while. It's all such a farce really ...

They were also supposed to be doing one with inpatient for several days re smoking IIRC. The rep who called after I registered earlier this year told me to keep my eyes peeled for it. I have checked 1-2 times a week and it hasn't shown up yet.
to the PP -- Neptune isn't hard. You take the train from Newark or Rahway (Jersey Coastline route) and it takes you to Neptune and from there a public bus ($1.60 fare) gets you there in less than 20 minutes. On the way back from there I walked to the station so not a far distance at all. Google Map it and it will show you (even walking directions or bus stop details once you get into the station).

T. J*f*e*s*n (Jeff) has a portal but you have to call the "healthy volunteer" recruiting office or the "patient" study area, depending on what department is running the study. (There are multiple study administrators unique to each dept. and "healthy" may not know all the other depts. of the hospital/university, let alone all the studies run at a given time. Jeff has one screening in January for a Feb. enrollment, though I didn't review the consent yet or know the compensation. They also do studies for long-term research by NIH and other "gov" inducements which, all-in-all, is scary to me ... heheh : )

do you have assets they can attach? If you don't, who cares if they say you made $X? Also, did they get 1099s filed by the clinics where you did the studies? If so, just file the basic return and then once they get it, about a while down the road, they will be sending you a letter that says you owe $X based on their calculation.
When that step happens, there will be a bunch of flyers included in the notice on where to contact IRS personnel to dispute/discuss/mitigate/offer-in-compromise your filing. I wouldn't sweat it, to be honest. I had this happen to me in 2006 or soing and I also work temp or IT contract jobs and I just take the next assignment as per usual. I haven't been garnished/attached (and no other assets).
Also to the PP -- you cannot all of a sudden come out of nowhere and say (hey, for my return 3 years ago, I was self-employed) not established by filings. The Tax Peeps don't like that much. Also you cannot just say "ok I was self-employed AND I am claiming X Y and Z expenses based on that ... mileage, wear and tear on the car, lodging expense, use of my house to call the clinics for scheduling, etc. ad nauseum. It's not a legit business for tax purposes that way, and it's a matter for getting called onto the carpet. I don't get how accountants can even get away with telling you to do this X years down the road. It's just begging for penalties and execution on future income, assets, etc.
So.... disclaimer: this is written from my own experience. I am an individual familiar with these situations and my statements are not to be construed as legal or tax advice. Use your own judgment and ... PRAY! : )

Hi, Mod! Penn would be the best place. I have a bunch of bookmarks for their clinical areas as well as a list of studies that I inquired about. I am screening Friday for a 2-visit with PET (395) but it depends if they have blocks of time on the machine whether or not you will be able to accomplish it over a holiday week.
PRA had one that I couldn't screen for (last week I believe). It's probably on their page.
Also depending on how long you will be in the area, would you be up for a trip to Baltimore (2 hr drive/ride) for JHUH? email me at all things for less (all one word) at mail (all one word) dot cc and I can send you my notes. Best regards,

I screened at Parexel in July and got disqualified but not for pulse or ekg. I thought ekg was different than pulse but .... my pulse was 42 on the table but the doc just called the PI and they said the cutoff was 40 so I was ok. Got disq'd for soing else there, though .... mainly they do not tell you exactly all the exclusion criteria during the screen so I went alllll the way down there and they then decided I met one of their PI's new disqualifications so ...
I was going to say I went there from Phila to Baltimore by Greyhound. Only took 2 hours, no brain cell reduction from driving, and cheap. Good luck at Frontage. I canceled that screening because it's a PITA to get there from where I am in NJ by public transit. Oh well -- didn't think to ask if anyone else was going to screen there from south jersey or the vicinity. I do not smell, blab incessantly or criticize driving and I am generous with expenses : ) I am doing a screen at TKL in Fair Lawn on Tuesday 12/9 if anyone's going ...

I did 2 cog and MRI studies at U of Penn last couple months. The straight cog paid $20 to ask questions about oobers (don't ask) on screen. The other one was a Gates and you do cognitive testing then an MRI and it paid $45. I think these clinical testing series at universities do pay low all around. in Phila I would expect to get at least $75 for 3 hours -- 1 hour in an MRI and the cognitive testing phase was 1 1/2 hours (plus it takes me about 1 hour to get there by transit). It was not worth the time but then again it's slim pickins for me to get anything that pays like a "real" clinical trial so I farm what I can get, do market survey stuff in between and pray a lot! : )

A cheaper way I find to get from Philly to Trenton is to take Patco Lindenwold line from Philly to Camden Walter Rand. I catch it at 8th and market but it goes to 16th and Locust as well with intermittent stops along Locust. It's $1.40. At Walter Rand, get on the RiverLine to Trenton that takes 59 minutes for $1.50. It lets you off across the street from Trenton Transportation Center. Cheaper than taking the Septa train to Trenton ($9.00, IIRC). Then proceed from Trenton station to Asbury by NJT train.

Anyone ever do a study here at Hopkins in B'more? I am on a study here now. Let's just say I'd be interested in hearing people's feedback, or if anyone knows anyone who knows someone who did one here. I will admit my mistake and take my losses on this one. I just figured while I was waiting for a study to come up at Parexel I could take this one and ue screening out here until soing breaks. It is a non-invasive study so it doesn't put me at any disadvantage with washout periods, etc. So far I haven't even had a procedure day yet and this place is the most inept CRO process I've ever seen, even worse than Celerion. Had a few issues already with some of the staff on a unit I'm in at for inpatient washout a few days before I go to the actual procedure the rest of this week. It doesn't pay great but it's soing in between until soing better breaks for me. So just curious to exchange stories with anyone else who did a trial here.
As I am writing this I just sent a 1-page letter to the study coordinator about the shenanigans that go on here with the nursing staff. I feel like I'm in Romper Room with these people here. It's really a joke ...
