I've never had trouble with labcorp (madison anyway) Which location was it... did it get resolved? I don't think IRB would help but numbers are on your study paperwork (IFC) or google.

They must be really understaffed at the phone bank these days as for almost a week now i've been calling, sometimes right when they too, and I just get the leave your name an number and we'll call you back line. Problem is they called me on a old/landline number that I can't answer on the go OR they will call like random off hours time like 6:30 in the morning when i'm not up...which is odd considering the phone banks at 7:30. ALSO they state the phone bank hours as going to 4:30 central but 3:30 ish or later you just get voicemail. And if you call from another number (say a freinds phone or landline) even if you leave your number they have the tendancy to call the first number which is annoying. Good thing things are slow here or I would have missed a few studies playing phone tag with this place for over a week now! I know staffing is low at a lot of places but labcorp in particular has had ongoing issues with this for a while now. Not so bad at other clinics.

They can also call you a uber/lyft if you ask nicely...they don't really advertise it. Neighborhood is just kind of bland suburbia there (some shady people on the streets etc) but hey In and out Burger and a starbucks across form the clinic!

I'll answer my owner question here: For the comp call one time I timed it just right and I was in on the first call. The 2nd time I must have been a hair too late as I had to wait about 15 minutes (with calling every minute or so) and then finally I got through, not too a person but to the automated system where I was put on hold for maybe 10 minutes were I got through and utilmitly selected and completed the study. So in short, yes it's a pain but be patient and make sure you set alarms or whatever so you don't forget to call. But if your punctual and persistent it should pay off. thats just my rookie take on it however.
As far as the FACILITY goes: It is a massive place with 7 separate clinics in the main building on Baseline rd (similar to PPD in that "mega clinic" regard). I'll say this wouldn't be my first, or even 2nd, choice for a long term (more than a week) study for a variety of reasons. 1. sleep is hard to come , at least in the main room (can't comment on the dorm rooms as I didn't stay there) which has maybe 40 beds each with a curtain for privacy but they leave a few overhead lights on for "safety reasons" so the place never really gets dark and there's always some noise of people or staff moving about. So bring good eye masks and earplugs...though they do provide bare bones versions of these if needed. There isn't a whole lot to do, at least in the clinic I was in, no board games, no pong (of course this breaks my heart lol) or billiards or anything. Covid may be a factor for some of these lack of items though. Speaking of which they are STILL very strict on mask wearing even as mandates are gone in most states and cases way down everywhere. This even after they do TWO covid tests the deep nostril antigen and the swab PCR, which is pretty unheard of at other clinics. Food is okay I guess, can repeat a lot but they aren't strict on eating all...even on bio days. Staff is pretty cool for the most part, they don't seem to be super anal, maybe even a bit lax, on time points and they don't seem to push fines on you like some places. Some studies pay pretty well (depending on sponsor and what's involved) and travel pay is sometimes provided. Also Motel 6 studio 6 is right across the street from the screening location and a short walk to the check in location. Prices arn't bad and all rooms have a small kitchenette which helps save food costs. Pay out is fast direct deposit is a option, usually you get a good chunk on check out. Overall I'd say give it a shot, if you want a clinic to travel too (a lot to see and nature to explore in and around the valley, probably best to avoid summer though) for a short or medium length study.

Well living a healthy lifstyle does seem to help for me, regular exercise, eating healthy, not imbibing much with drugs or alcohol. If your at the ends of the bmi spectrum do what you can to get more towards the middle. If your concerned about certain lab values maybe get a comprehensive panel down at a local lab to see what you need to work on before going to a screening. And of course, going in with a good attidude and being freindly (but not overly) with the screening staff can be helpfull...especially at a new place. And of course divulging too much of your personal healthy history can get you eliminated from a study or ban you from certain studies in the future...but holding back does have the potential to harm you so that's a judgment call on you. And of course don't take (or keep mum about) any recent medications and supplements up to screening, These places will not take you for soing as simple as taking a OTC drug 13 days before checkin etc etc

Seems like they are getting earlier and earlier with the check in and OPV times. I can understand 8 or later but 6AM?! For most of us traveling that can mean leaving at 3 or 4 or the morning to drive, not very safe or conducive to good labs with poor sleep. It's also a pain or not plausible to arrange child or pet car etc this early. I can understand if they offer curtesy stays (overnight stays at the clinic the night before) but most places aren't offering this anymore and using covid as a excuse of course.
I urge you all to let the clinics know in their feedback forms that we would prefer later check in and OPV times...or possibly a flex system of sorts. Who knows maybe they will listen if enough of us voice our opinion, they have changed policies in the past with enough subject feedback.

New to the call process, any tricks or tips much appreciated.
Also, why is this call so soon before check in?! 3 days is pretty last minute to arrange travel and care at home, at least a week notice please Celerion!

I'm thinking of doing a study out west this fall/winter...thinking more mountains or desert than coast so we can rule out California...though if there's soing new or nonlisted in the PNW that would be awesome. Speaking of new, I see PPD is in Las Vegas now...I assume that was the old Novum? How are things there vs under the Novum name and Did all the Novum locations become PPD?
As far as PPD (vegas), PRA in Utah and Celerium AZ go, which would you choose from if you had the choice? Thanks

Looks like this place is under PPD ownership now?! Have the conditions improved at all?

What did you end up doing? No harm in leaving a study early if it's hell...heck it's only money and there are other studies to be had.

Done a few since they ed up after the first wave last year, yes big changes at the clinics, rapid covid testing to even get in the building at most places (thank god they are not the deep swabs anymore). Staff gets tested as well at most clinics...though at various schedules, BUT everyone wears a mask including subjects in the clinics i've been in the midwest. The only thing that may be a little worrisome is places with bunks as people don't sleep with masks on, but most places have reduced the number of subjects to a room. had single rooms for a while (not sure whats up now) which was pretty sweet. Spaulding your a safe distance (with curtains) from your roommate...can't comment on other places though..i'd be a little leary doing a study in a red state that doesn't GAF though lol.

I haven't heard of any vax requirements to get into a study. I was in Covance when I got mine and reported it and they were fine with it...however that was many OPVs in a long study and there was a 30 day pre and post no vax requirement I do believe on that study which can be common for most. Others clinics i've mentioned it and had no push back, nor did they request it. But I don't think they will require it...but personally I'd rather see them to that then steer us away from it...which is a ridiculous thing to do as we are still lagging behind on vaccination rates and it would help curb any spread in the clinics themselves.
