the states of WASHINGTON, NEW YORK, CALIFORNIA OR ILLINOIS as of this week due to Covid-19. No word when it will be relaxed and expect other states to be added to the list as the virus spreads. Stay safe out there.

So with a some hesitance I ended up doing the study. I'd have to say the fears of spinal taps/lumbar punctures are way over rated. Mine went fairly smoothly, though the anesthesiologist had to try another spot and maneuver a bit before enough fluid was found but it went quickly and mostly painless. I say mostly because there the initial shot of numbing agent but other than kind of a weird feeling going in nothing much as far as pain. More mentally "nerve racking" if anything. Some people reported nerve hits that were more uncomfortable but they recovered from that and those are more rare. I did not experience the head aches, nor did others I spoke with. I would say make sure you lay down for a few hours after and take it easy for the next day or two. Make sure there is a good amount of days between the punctures, in this case about 7 which is fine. Just don't plan on physical work or exercise the day of or after for best recovery.
So other aspects of the study, 1 hr long MRI, can test your patience a bit but they give you music/podcasts so it went faster than it was. Also very cool do get a really expensive procedure done for "free" as well as results on paper for that.
The drug (IV infusion) at 3g wasn't noticeable in my opinions (as well as others) can't say if I had placebo or not though. Of course higher dosages may have different results, and this drug penetrates the brain blood barrier so there is risk with that, mentally and physically...hence the suicide scale questions at screening and nuero exams. Short telemetry as well before dosing but most seemed to pass that.
Overall not a bad study at all for the $$, especially if your in the area and can do all the OPVs as the pay is heavily weighted for completion of the last OPVs They will likely be doing more cohorts of this study, possible into 2020 as well.

Any feedback or insight? If not Willow any thoughts on lumbar punctures (spinal taps) in general?
Willow is 10 days in house with at least 2 lumbar punctures and several outpatients. payout about 9K. thanks

Well KC area still gets snow and I must say after doing the Ill-Wisco circuit for many years, with a mid sized fwd car, I remember only one wishing I had a 4x4/SUV only once or twice and never had any snow related mishaps or missed a check in due to it. Sure it gets cold or the occasional snow storm and you wont have a beach to go play in after check outs but still very doable and I would say good paying studies if your patient. Most places are accommodating for late arrivals or even rescheduling (OPVs) for big snow storms from what i've seen.

So Davita is closed in Minnesota and Denver?! Slowdown in clinical research? I wonder how widespread that is...seems odd with the economy going well (for now) and so many jobs available that would theoretically pull some people out of volunteering and hence more need for volunteers.

Middle of Texas is good but lot of travel times. KC area yes also Southern cal or NY/NJ area... but some VCT there of course...so do your research on that so your not caught in waiting long periods to get in another. Could also consider southern Wisconsin/norther Illinois. Only one clinic VCTs (spualding) of the 3 big ones...though Covance is stuck with a lot of radio labeled studies these days. Good Luck

I just noticed that when they update studies the new studies show up on Internet Explorer (which I hardly use) and Chrome. With fire fox it takes a while or does not refresh as it should. Not sure why this happens but good to keep in mind. Also, I wish Spaulding would have more days of screening for their studies, usually it's just one day...not cool.

Wont take abstinence as a od? Trying to distinguish between a regular and non regular partner? F off. Why not making them suited around the average person so you can get the volunteers you need? And while i'm at it what's up with this taking your number and call you back later business? can't afford phone requiters anymore??

Sorry not really ridesharing related but I do have 3 rooms on Air bnb about 35 minutes from Abvie (misspelled due to jalr censorship) , 1.5 hours to Spaulding and 1.75 hours to Covance Madison. I'm also a ten minute walk from a metra rail line that will get you to downtown Chicago or close to O'hare. (but not on Abvie line). PM me for more info, rooms range $40-50 online but can give a little lab rat discount. I also drive for uber and may be willing to give cash rides to so you can save a bit off a regular fare. In addition, I have a car available to rent on the TURO ap.
thanks and happy rating.

To answer Labrat1's questions. Yes you can take the Blue Line (CTA train/"L" not a bus) from the airport to downtown Chicago for $5. And it will take about 45 mins or more depending on track delays etc. Then another hour or so on the metra train (metrarail.com). and a short walk to from there. Of course you could uber/lyft from O'hare and look for a cheap Air bnb in the area. I have some rooms available but i'm about 40 min away from .

Seem to be ramping up the scare tactics for some reason. How about some statistics on how many trials go on each year with out any major AEs (including death)? And how do those statistics compare to the odds of death or accident in a automobile or walking in a busy city or getting shot etc etc. I have the feeling our odds are way worse just getting behind the wheel to get to a study.
