Hey Bob14 maybe too late now unless later cohorts, but do you recall any other stipulations for this study? such as if you had the flu vaccine in fall are you disqualfied? what about covid vaccine? and why the high pay (for a clinic not known to pay high) do they expose you to the flu virius?

Not a big deal for almost 4 weeks...if they start out post dose intervals of 15 minutes that can be a little rough at first but alternate arms and use multiple veins per arm. work out, eat healthy and you should be good to go...assuming they don't do a nerve/tendon strick or soing...that can suck, but is rare.

well yes it "is a thing" unfortunaltly lol...sure it can be a bit stinky and kind of akward but not really a big deal in the scheme of things. usually they pay a bit more (or should) for the icky factor. One sample wouldn't not deter me but the radioactive tracer studis (drawing a blank on the common name here) I tent to avoid since that requires more samples and locking of bathrooms etc...plus the not knowing how long your gonna be there is a pain in the ***.

Well like every study it's "study dependant" but most of the time you have to eat everything on "bio" or dose days and after that they really like you to finish your meal but if you don't it's not a big deal they just make a note of it. Of course on those bio days if your vomiting in the bathroom or have some crazy AEs then no one is going to force you to eat all year meal.

Just curious if the clinics are implementing any long term bans or other measures for a positive test. And is there any chatter of clinics shutting down again for this 2nd wave?

Wow that sounds like Hell Aladdinsane72. Can't imagine going through that. Maybe you can reach out to others that were in your study, power in numbers if others are experiencing this the board might or clinic might take more action...a big might though. The body is a great tool hopefully you can heal from this with time. our prayers go out to you!

Thanks for the Covance update AC, yeah the lockdown bathrooms are a big annoyance there for sure. I'd be a little uncomfortable with 3 other guys in the room...if they are still doing that. I got word is doing just one person per room if they can. but they have a nice injectable study there now were you don't have to go in house for anyway.

Come on , your a Billion dollar company but you can't man (or woman in most cases) the phones during the day?! The leave a message and wait for a call out of the blue system you use is out dated, inefficient and annoying. Please make it easier for us to work with you!

Seems like they did a good job, any changes in the rooming situation?

Just curious to how your experience has been doing studies with covid still out there. What are clinics doing right or wrong? some clinics better than others? I'd say I was pretty comfortable at my Spaulding study in July. Ideally they could have given us all our own room, but I feel comfortable with the distance there and the curtains between roommies. Staff was masked and gloved always, and we had to wear masks in halls and during events...and they would let you know (kindly) if you slipped up or kept your sniffer out.
Anyone go to covance or , are things much different? Are they keeping the number of subjects the same in the room?

Each clinic will have different policies but you likely wont get a completion bonus and possibly black listed...either for a few months or maybe forever. I do know most places can be accommodating to arrange a different day if it's not too far away from original OPV, but they don't like to broadcast this since it isn't ideal for them.

1. One thing I didn't see in turbo tax in prior years. This is when I was adding specific clinics for 1099-MISC (box 3) other income. not sure how to answer this (I said yes to both), any thoughts on implications either way?
Does one of these uncommon situations apply?
-I was in a research study and this was the payment
Did you perform a service to earn the money (insert clinic) paid you?
2. Another thing: For years I just filed my out of state trial earnings for my home state, then the last few years I realized I should be paying state income tax to all out of state clinics I went to, BUT now I see in box 17 of the 1099-misc that my home state is listed. Complicating things Covance (for example) is listed on 1099 as being in New Jersey (the headquarters). Heard different answers on this and not sure how to go about it.

Being asymptomatic and spreading it is a very real threat, and of course as jobs are cut/lost and few places running trials unfortunately there's always going to by some people that hide symptoms and try to get in a study covid or not.
Note: SPAULDING has good amount still to answer Varks question, pulled their healthy studies, and covance restricts by some states...others I can't vouch for

I would like to give blood as they are in need due to covid-19. I know they (most clinics) ask you don't give 6 weeks out or whatever it is...which is a pretty silly requirement and basically puts lab rats out of giving blood ever, but how long after would it effect screening results? they say two weeks for most to replenish level in your body but are there any other complications giving blood can have that would show up at screening? thanks.
PS. I asked about flue shot earlier and I had one a week before screening and had no issues with screening. Silly they ask us not to have those either (for most studies), it's our bodies and our health at stake...let along the health of others in the trial and general public...as we are reminded constantly of lately of course.
More P.S. Any word of trials for Covid-19 besides near Seattle and in London (UK citizens only)? thanks
