i've done 50 studies, and there was only one time that at a screening they tried to get all the info about my previous study. we went back and forth about it for awhile, with my position being that's confidential information i can't give out. eventually they settled for being assured i was well past any washout/halflife period and was ok to do the study, but it almost cost me the study. just somebody being overzealous. in general, they want to verify you are coming in clean with nothing residual still in your system. some places go from dose date to dose date, while others go from end of study date.
one time i wasted a drive to kc because they wouldn't let me screen during the 30 days, even though the study start was more than 30 days. one time i wasted a drive to fargo in january because they didnt tell me the study was cancelled. that one was partly on me for not calling before driving.

when i was at spaulding in december, there was no gown stuff. it might have been a study specific thing. they did have a 100% food requirement. on the other hand, i don't have teeth, and i couldn't eat the apple they served at almost every meal, and i didn't get fined for it.
so i would say, go to spaulding one last time, eat what you feel like, you may have your pay docked some, but you will make some money. whether they would ban you for that i don't know. spaulding is one of the few places i can still go, when they have a rare study in my age group.

the post i had put up here was censored by the site managers. it's their site, they can run it how they want, but it makes me less interested in participating, and i'm one of the few who does.

some places use a catheter if they are doing a bunch in a short time. that is, they attach a tube to your arm and leave it in for a day or two. otherwise, is the pay enough to cover 100 sticks? i personally wouldn't have a problem with it. i have a spot on my right elbow with lots of scar tissue from many sticks over the years.

Am I blind or is there no subforum for Covance? Also, I think the board can benefit from having these as well: - Suggestions & Feedback - California Clinical Trials (isn't this the biggest Phase I in Cali aside from WCCT?) - Off-topic Discussion by all means post away. many years ago this forum was busier than it is now. there was a crash and the old posts got lost. i suspect many here don't trust the site management, compared to when it was run by a lab rat.

celerion is a little tricky to work with. i wasted over $1000 going out there to screen for studies i didn't get into. but eventually i got in, and made over $20,000 over 5 or so studies. i might be on their do not recruit list by now, not sure.
celerion pays a referral fee just for screening, so anybody new there, drop me a line at gtbear at gmail, i'll give you my name to use as your referral, i'll send you $100 when the check clears. so far nobody has taken me up on this offer.

can you say which place it was where someone died? also, do you know if it was a patient, or a healthy volunteer? it would be huge news if a healthy patient died in a study. in a patient study of a cancer drug, it is not unusual some people would die of their cancer while in the study.
i have done 50 studies and rarely have any side effects, and never anything serious. i only do healthy volunteer studies so i haven't run into the kind where it affects your cognition. i've been warned to stay away from "brain slug" studies where it affects your thinking, it would frustrate me if i went all the way to a screening and only then got told of serious side effects that scared me away from the study. so it's ok to ask a lot of questions during the phone screening, and if they dont know tell them to find out from the study doctor and get back to you to before you screen. the ethical thing would be to email us the consent before we come in, but most places don't do this. use your own judgment. but my experience has been that almost all studies have no significant side effects, and if you get in one that does, you are free to leave.
as far as deaths in studies, eli lilly had a suicide 20 years ago and stopped doing their own studies. paraexel had a study in england where 6 patients had severe effects and were hospitalized, but did not die. biotrial, i think, had a patient death in a study in france a couple years ago. there was a young man who died in a university hospital study a number of years ago in a genetic therapy study, but it wasn't one of the clinics listed here.
